Electronic ignition has a thermocouple that builds milivolts to open and close gas valve. If the pilot goes out , the valve won't open . They have electric infrared sensors also to sense the flame so the burner can open in different stages . A spark ignitor on a stove will never start a fire

live about 45 minutes from cedar point so ive been there a lot. ive saw the top thrill go backwards numerous times and ive seen it get perfectly stuck at the top. mind you, its 420ft tall. coincidentally i was also at the water park right next to it when the entire east coast had the big power outage in the early/mid 2000's. numerous rides, including the millennium force, were stuck towards the top of their first hills.

When I was in college at 6Flags Atl on the Batman ride, it's a feet dangler. Same thing , a HS boy lost his hat on the ride, jumped the fence and got GOT. There are signs EVERYWHERE not to jump the fences and stay clear of the rides. There is another ride called The Monster Cruse and little kids used to drown bc it's an inside boat ride..
