Better luck than I had with my 403C green dot when I had it. Mine had a weird artifact that left a square halo in the top left of the reticle, was barely visible unmagnified and pretty noticeable magnified. Maybe the red wouldve been better, but not a huge fan of the 403 green cause of it.

I read somewhere that emitter placement affects the quality of the dot under magnification. Emitters mounted at an angle will appear to "smear" while ones mounted at 90 degrees wont. I've seen this with the dots I own but that could just be the price/quality difference between them.

I have a $140 SIG Romeo5 with the emitter at an angle and it's blurred. I have a $50 Bushnell TRS25 with the emitter at the 6 o'clock and it's perfectly clear.

@@timrobinson6573 odd, my TRS 25 has the emitter between 4 and 5 o'clock. The dot looks like a banana through a Juliet 4.

​@@driftinaz3158 The Romeo4 series has the emitter mounted on the side perpendicular to the rail. The Romeo8 has it mounted flat on the bottom. I'm sure they are plenty more but those are two I've actually looked through.

The front glass on most red dots is slightly canted as well. I believe if they dont line up perfectly itll make it worse.

Btw, the rds/magnifier combo on my work gun is the hs 503 gu acss with the PA gen 4 ler. They both ride 8n Scalarwerx 1.93 mounts. Great mounts. If you haven't checked them out yet, you should. Yes, I know the mounts cost more than the optics.
