you can edit the base hair using the face texture, and back of the head body texture. You can even get hairlines in BOOTH and than just create layer and put over the face and body textures and boom new hairline. :)

Also, the new update has an expression editor (in the face editor tab) which affects/changes the blendshapes, and the fangs can be toggled there as well :D A tad easier for those unfamiliar with unity.

I know she/you (argama if you read this) have a video on custom expressions in unity, but I tried following step by step with my male model and just couldn't get it to work... That part of the male character afterthought you think? User error?

Well in the latest update you can adjust the expressions in vroid itself, but I'm not sure what sort of expressions you are looking for? I have two expression videos, blendshape one and advanced expressions. The advanced expressions use hair in vroid but then go into unity and turn those hairs on and off with blendshape materials to give more exaggerated expressions

Did you know that Vroid Studio has a Steam release? Me neither, but auto-updating instead of manually downloading new versions sounds like a dream, the only thing I'm not sure is the whereabouts of the .vroid files (not the vrms, but the 'raw' files that are editable in Vroid Studio itself, cuz, ya know, I'll have to import them...)

Yep, you can save the "Vroid" file, not just the "VRM". Why doesn't the program make it clear and easy to access those? No idea... But it's possible to save your actual work file, and give it to whoever is more qualified than you to finish the job. That's, usually more helpful than sending three crappy-croppy screenshots and a whole book worth of backstory as reference... xD

You can change rimlighting, I think you can in vroid itself, if not you can in unity. Smoke like hair is something I don't know how to explain. It would be how it's shaped, and you'd want to make it transparent in parts in unity. I did Celtys smoky neck maybe seeing it can give you ideas. booth.pm/en/items/2434679

Do you take video ideas? If you do, something I've been looking for is how to add custom blendshape parameters in unity. Something like an automatic head tilt for a happy expression, or transferring the extra eyes into the male model.

@leon I've many tutorials on making parts like horns and wings and tails, please put all the knowledge I give you to make the monster of your choice. You can't add things outside vroid into vroid so you have to make it with hair. I'm not making new tutorials for this, however, good luck!
