We visited the Šarganska Osmica (Šargan Eight) museum narrow-gauge railway in Serbia and took a train ride. The 15-kilometer-long course is one of the most attractive in Europe due to its steep climb, beautiful views and numerous tunnels. So that a normal train with a track spacing of 760 mm could overcome this steepness, the tracks were laid in the shape of a figure eight. Currently, only diesel locomotives are running, but Serbian Railroad will announce when the steam locomotives have been audited. You will enjoy the Šarganska osmica with diesel traction as well.
