Child poverty rates in Argentina have soared to nearly 65 percent in recent years, despite increases in government assistance to those struggling to cope.
It is especially evident among the urban poor who say suitable jobs for them are not being created.
The South American country is struggling with a 50-percent inflation rate and financial instability, exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reports from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Deserves? Argentina gets what it votes for. And that’s what it deserves. If they indulge in Peronist nationalism and hide from their problems by overindulging in football: Then this is what they deserve.

I'm not talking about violence, but people around the world need to stand up to shady governments. Letting politicians do what they want is not working, because they have money and power on their minds, not people.

Argentina's economy has a lot going for it. It should not be as poor a country as it is today. There has been some serious economic mismanagement that has caused this suffering. Otherwise Argentina could be a middle income or even a developed nation.

Lot of corruption in Argentina, and bad economic desitions. Its not just the poberty now, the culture is destroyed, too much violence, and lack of education, not because the state cant provide education, but poor sectors are just not used to study, and the drugs and alcohol culture is too strong.

That is what people have done thruu the history. Your great grandparents most likely were poor and had children. Your statement tells that you have no understanding of people and lack empathy.

Im from Argentina, and... yes, very poor people tend to have more numerous families, its a big problem. Poor women could have 7 and more children, its like... why ?!! 14 year old girls with already 2 kids. Its imposible to make them use birth control protection, a lost battle.
