Good to see you on the water again Jason. Lovely day for it: I was in quarantine again, so confined to backyard sailing. At least I think I've got my main reefling lines sorted. That is a tidy looking foil. Is the centreboard next? See you at Bribie!

Hi Tony yep I'll be at Bribie. I was quite happy with the rudder but my centreboard case is too narrow to do anything similar so I'm stuck with a parallel sided Neil Pollock foil shape there (which is not much better than a flat plate....maybe I should put a flat plate in there for ballast). Did my first reef on the water in anger today and it worked like a charm.

Full sail, tell-tales steaming 5 knots, nice! I was interested to see that you could heave to with the lug yawl set-up. So did you back the mizzen in the same way that you would back the head sail to the wind in a Bermudan rig? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Damo, no I just pull the mizzen on hard but not quite to the centreline. Put the tiller to lee (which would turn you up into the wind) and leave the mainsheet slack. The main lug just flaps depowered but there is some drag that wants to push the head off the wind, but as soon as the boat is side to the wind, the mizzen which is in tight powers up and pushes the head back up into the wind. It's pretty cool, I was rather amazed that I managed to get it to work.
