Sometimes poems are like mirrors, and they reflect these images so clearly you don’t even realize it’s you you’re seeing because it’s in a new kind of light... from a different angle... your poem did that for me. It showed me myself, the Black woman I am now, and the Black girl I was who taught herself how to braid her own hair. Thank you! *snaps*
