Just Fyi: The original/studio 'Touch it' vocals are falsetto, not whistle. And sometimes when she performed it live at the DWT she would switch to head voice when singing that part. :)

They're both whistle notes but the first one is fused with her falsetto and whistle voice. I can't seem to fuse my falsetto with my whistle voice like she can but hearing that whistle note just sends chills down my spine everytime!!

Generally the whistle and falsetto notes are from different octaves and/or registers. For most mezzos and sopranos it’s around D6

You can tell the first videos riff is almost exactly the same as the second, it’s just an octave lower (5th to the 6th octave in the second video. It’s either falsetto or whistle

@@halssings From my experience as a Mezzo I start whisting at a b5 but your right. D6 is a safe place. I used to hit that with my falsetto only and now I can't even hit it without whistling. The lower register, as I'm an alto to mezzo, is cleeeeannn! But when I go into G#5 territory and up I start squaking like a bird haha! I used to be able to just flip from falsetto to whistle and I've had to repurpose my vocal cords to hit those whistle notes. I have really good days and really bad days. But I always squawk between G#5 and C#6. Just saying from my experience. D6 to D7 is also clean for me in whistle register but anything past that and I'm just gasping for air at that point. I'm just explaining why I made that comment from what I experienced growing up and as an adult now. I hope this helped.
