<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1911">31:51</a> this song is about mac miller that she dated, they were best friends before they started dating, then they dated for a short time and broke up because Mac was very chemically dependent, he passed away shortly after the breakup, and she was with Pete Davidson at the time of the incident, and she was very traumatized and then there was the whole issue with Pete, him manipulating her and leaking photos, she went through a LOT, 2016-2019 were a sequence of traumatic years, the death of her grandfather, two breakups, an ex who was her best friend in 2013 also died, the attack on her show in Manchester that killed 22 of her fans, then she did the charity show, they shared the tumors that her brain had at the time of so much trauma, then there was the breakup with Pete Davidson, then in 2020 she started dating Dalton Gomez who she married and they stayed together until a little after the beginning of 2023, there were rumors of betrayal on his part and also that he couldn't stand the relationship anymore because they were always apart because of work. She was basically filming Wicked for years, and they broke up. In 2020, she released Positions, which was basically a romance album about her relationship with Dalton. Then, at the end of 2023, she started dating Ethan Slater, and they're still together today. Eternal Sunshine is an album about how she's healed, about how she faced all this time without being in music because since 2021, she stopped releasing music to focus on acting and came back now in 2024 with everything. She's been through a lot but she's healed now.

And at the end of the video she “kisses herself” which is supposed to signify that she’s gonna love herself now.
