Thanks for this excellent top-quality review. I got the Rad Runner Plus recently and love it as an all around utility ebike. However, the RR+ will become my wife's bike and I am going to pull the trigger on getting an X-Class 48v after watching this review. I might regret not getting the 52v later for that little extra umph and no throttle delay, but I don't want to be going much faster than the RR+ when riding together, and saving $500 is appealing too :-). Like the other commenters mention this is a 10 out of 10 review of both X-Class models, and I appreciated the honesty and all the little details like crank shaft length, etc. I was curious about the performance differences of the x52 vs. x48 - but you you answered all my questions and more. Great comparison video. I have the 48V X-Class and love it. 1 of your dislikes was the height of the bike. I would rate the height as a "like" since I feel that it makes me easier to see from a car's perspective. Of course I'm 5'10" and can put both feet on the ground at a red light, so there's that too. But thanks for the great video.

I await the delivery of my X-Class 48v with great anticipation. Given my age (74), I think that for the kind of riding I do the 48v will be perfect. There are 85 miles of paved bike paths where I live in Rochester, MN alone and many others in various towns around me. Your video comparing the two X-Class models was extraordinarily comprehensive and anyone with any questions just needs to watch this video and those will be answered and more. My only concern is that I am 5'11 and hope I can get a decent pedal extension. I know AR is releasing seat riders later this summer and I am probably going to change the handlebars with 6" BOX BMX bars. I know you went much higher, but my concern is the cabling. Keep up the great work and I am happy to be a subscriber!

Looking for my 1st ebike... I can't afford to make the wrong choice. I was thinking about ordering a Juiced RipCurret, but after this review I'm leaning towards the X-Class. My problem is I'm hung up on wanting torque vs cadence PAS. I've seen some comments where people have a hard time adjusting the feel of cadence assist. Also some saying it's hard to peddle slower than 10mph because of this. What are your thoughts on the X-Class PAS? Thanks for the great video!
@RustyRoads3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad, thanks for watching and for the compliment! Pedaling from a standstill using assist with the x-class can be fairly easy if the Shimano drivetrain is in a lower gear. I keep mine in 7th gear which makes it difficult to pedal from a start but I've gotten used to a slight bump of the throttle to get going and then I pedal and it pretty much has no effect on my range. Also to consider for below 10 mph pedaling. If it's flat ground you may just want to cut off the assist completely and downshift to about 3rd or 4th gear and you can Cruise doing 10 to 12 miles per hour easily with no assist. I'd suggest joining an Ariel Rider and Juiced bike Facebook group to see if anyone local to you is willing to let you test ride their bikes. It's a pretty awesome community and most people are dying for riding partners so you'll be surprised how many will offer to let you test ride their bike ❤️

Hello Rusty Roads! I’m in awe at your amazing review- so entertaining, so informative. I need your help in deciding which bike to go with between the xclass 52 and the Dclass, I love the color, suspension of the xclass, and in the Dclass I love the upright position and the more comfy seat. For me the power in the 52v is more than enough, I don’t need the dual motors of the Dclass, but I do have a very sensitive low back and the aggressive forward position of the xclass does scare me! Do you think if I changed the handlebars on the xclass for bmx upright style ones that I’ll get the comfortable upright position I’m looking for? Also, I’m pretty tall at 5´11 “ As soon as I hear back from you, I’ll put my order in! Thanks soooo much in advance. Also open to any more thoughts from your viewers:)

You can definitely swap out for higher bars on the XClass, we have a video where we put 9" BMX bars on our red 48V! It’s nice these bikes comes with hybrid plastic/metal gears. But in the video it sounds like your saying these gears give more power and torque but what they actually do is allow for the use of a higher power/torque without breaking or stripping like a nylon gear would do.The actual metal gear itself does not provide more power,just handle it better than nylon.

With a ramp yes. The 52 might go up without a ramp due to the extra torque. I've only used walk mode when near crowds but not for stairs. You mention the cassette being 14-28 tooth. I sent an email to Ariel rider about that because the description of the bike says 11-42 tooth cassette. While going into bike components it shows 14-28. That one concerned me as I would pedal assist a lot so 11-42 would be nicer for that. They sent me an e-mail saying it comes with 11-42 tooth cassette. What did yours come with?(52v x class) . Another concern was the display. No voltage available to see is big to me. The display that comes with the grizzly should also be included on at least the upgraded x-class for sure(52v version) I would also far prefer a 56 tooth chain ring instead of 48. That paired with a rear 11 tooth allows you to pedal assist really well at higher speeds (28+ mph) I have watched a few ebike videos of another brand that used a small chain ring and 14tooth in the rear and they could not pedal assist much after 20mph as they had to spin the pedals way to fast to be of any use. All in all a very good , detailed comparison. And I agree. Quite a good deal for what you pay. For Ariel rider e-bikes. In all honesty I want the grizzly. Sadly above my budget.

Hey Jim thanks for the feedback and for watching. I wondered about this while making this video and reached out to Ariel Rider and was told 14-34. The Grizzly is amazing but the X52 will put a nearly smile on your face ! 🐾

Chloe (Ariel Rider Ebikes) May 25, 2021, 13:33 PDT Hi there, 11-42T us the correct one. This was the response I got . Now it concerns me as your response was different then mine. I will see . It is between Ariel rider 52v x-class and one other e-bike. Has given me a few things to think about

This was an awesome video! Not sure if I want the 52 or the grizzley? Any suggestions. I like the X look better but is the grizzley that much of a better performer?
@RustyRoads3 жыл бұрын
Hey JB, thanks !! IMO the $1000 makes the X52 a no brainer, unless you are riding in sand, which the 2WD Grizzly will leave the X52 in well, the sand lol. Also, the X52 is lighter, just as quick/fast, and has less components that can fail. Both are fantastic options, check out the Ariel Rider owners club on FB for tons of info and comparisons!! 🐾

Best review I have seen yet! I just have a few questions. So to start off I am 5 9 would this be large enough for me? Also I am probably going to go for the 48v as $500 is a pretty big price for a couple upgrades. I was looking to purchase the 48v around November-December, do u think it would still be available around that time? Also how well do you think a d-lock would work on this? And how easy would it be to upgrade the display and get a lcd display with battery percentage? And sorry last thing lol would you think I would be able to get around 26 miles of range if I were going 24mph? If not when would u think the extra batteries would be in stock again? Thank you so much for your time and ypu earned a sub for this awesome review!

Also with the price points somewhat similar which would you recommend, the 48v or the aventon aventure?
@RustyRoads3 жыл бұрын
5'9 is an ideal rider height for the X-Class. The Aventon looks very nice however, I don't have any experience with that model 🤘🏽⚡🐾💥

Perfect for deliveries! 5'8 is a perfect height for this bike btw Overall range will depend on speed, hills and how much you pedal. It could last 6 hours at slower speeds Cheers 💥🤘🏽🐾⚡

@@RustyRoads I'm expecting my 52v in October since it's backorder. I'm researching mods. Biggest problem is many of us are trying to figure out how to install a USB hub for accessories. If you know of a solution, that would be a greatest hits video. Just a suggestion.

I believe so ! Considering we got nearly 36 miles on our throttle only 20mph range test I can see it going 40 with pedaling, Although it would be close if you're going full speed

Hey quick honest question. What is your height? My wife is 5' and we might end up getting a refund on our S73 S2 due to manufacturing defects that they haven't been able to remedy. Was wondering if it would feel too big/tall for riders around the 5' mark?

Thanks for the great review brother! I've got a question, since I'm going to be getting my Black 52v this month, I'm so excited. I believe mine is being shipped with the thumb throttle instead of the twist. Do you know if I'll experience the same throttle delay as the 48v? Or will the throttle response be about the same as a 52v with twist?
@RustyRoads3 жыл бұрын
It will be the same, all X52s should have the same throttle response regardless of throttle type. Also, you can get a half twist for yours for $20 on Amazon. Takes 5-10 Min to replace⚡ I'm thanks for watching! 🐾
