And he just lets the kick starter slam back against the stop. And the clutch plunger shouldn't be spinning either. It should have square shoulders to prevent this.

Ha, ha, it didn't 'SLAM' back at all. Er...We have video evidence of exactly what took place...Dean you are very naughty.

@@martinda7446 It clearly smacked back and bounced a couple of times. This is how so many gearbox cases on ebay are cracked. The lever should be held at the bottom of its stroke and slowly released once the engine has started.

@@thra5herxb12s Dean, I agree people should have much more sympathy in general with beautiful things...So in theory I'm with you...And I have seen many idiots poking about with nice things and mucking them up...All too often. Here though I still can't see it. The kick starting lever here has a very lightly sprung, low speed return to its starting position, and that stop has a gigantic rubber doorstop to alleviate any excess. That is what it lightly bounced off a couple of times. Respect to you and apologies for being a bit of a tit in my last reply.

Why is the fragile bakelite distributor cap bouncing all over the place? That can't be good for ignition reliability.
