Shakespeare is definitely one of the main characters in Hamnet however he is just never referred to by his name! Other characters just refer to him by their relationship to him (Father, Husband, Son etc.) and during the parts of the book that are from his perspective, they are very internal and rarely contain conversations with other people. Hope this helps! I read this recently and LOVED IT and weirdly this choice not to give Shakespeare a name was actually one of my favorite parts as it meant as a reader we focus more on the other characters and his relationships with them :)

People who either comment or ask if somebody really reads all the books they are buying (I've been asked plenty of times) are usually people who can't imagine reading that many books. It sounds like you've had a great trip, it's nice to hear somebody taking the responsibility and actually making sure to be as safe as possible. Love you video's, they have such a "books & tea time with Ariel" vibe.

@isabelcaldeira2 жыл бұрын
@@xime321 Hi! I would recommend José Saramago and José Luís Peixoto for prose, and Fernando Pessoa for poetry. Honourable mention to Mia Couto (he is from Mozambique but writes in Portuguese and is well known in Portugal). 😊 Saramago (Nobel Prize in Literature, unique writing style) and Pessoa (heteronymic work) are two of the best known Portuguese writers. However, if you are more into contemporary work, I would check José Luís Peixoto or Mia Couto.

It was so weird to hear you mention Pho Cafe. I worked at Pho for 8 months! I'm Australian and I live in Australia, but I lived in the UK for 18 mths back in 2008-2009. Pho started off as just one, then 3, then heaps of locations, many in London but a few others across the UK too. Sounds like you went to the Soho one. I worked at the one by Oxford Circus. When I was working there we got a free meal so I ate a lot of pho, and I got to take home leftover summer rolls. Basically I ate vietnamese nearly every day for 8 months. It was awesome for someone who was gluten-free (me) because everything on the menu was gluten-free except for two items. They said I made the most aesthetically looking herb plates of all the staff, haha. When I've had pho here (back home) I've thought, hmmm still not as tasty as the place I worked at. Owners are british but all the chefs were vietnamese.

The book is so comforting as I said. It doesn't matter which letter I'm reading, or whether/not I relate to those stranger's circumstances they provide such comfort, seeing someone struggle while u're struggling always make u feel u ain't alone n' there's hope. :) ....ugh!
