Great build! Love the finish and this aircraft is beautiful, never heard of it before.

Well done! You're a better airbrusher than I am. I think the yellow strips on the leading edge of the wings are just called "recognition strips." They were to help with identification in a head on pass.

Fantastic job for a bad kit. You are professional

at 1st nice build, pretty old kit but very well done :) and then this one you built in particular called L3Y1 (Yokosuka made L3Y) L3M was the only Nippon Go and difference between them is that the Nippon go was basically G3M2 Bomber converted to civil missions while yours is pure Military Transport plane and these were made in Yokosuka Arsenal so called Y instead of M which stands for Mitsubishi (wheel wells should be metallic blue color) the plane itself could be unpainted like nippon go or camouflaged brown/green (yours is circa 1944-45) full green with light grey undersurfaces :) any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. Cheers!

The YELLOW deicer boots, wing leading edges, are identification markings to signify friendly aircraft to oncoming Japanese fighters. The round antenna is a RDF, Radio Direction Finder Antenna .
@brinx86343 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why you refer to them as de-icer boots. They are painted I.D. colours only.

Nice one! For gluing your clear parts, you might want to get a bottle of Foam Tack Glue by Woodland Scenics. This has much greater holding power than plain old white glue, and is still as easy to use.

Love seeing the Japanese birds.

They are Identification stripes, interestingly designed to be seen head on. And in regards to the Tamiya Flay Yellow, Tamiya based that paint on the yellow of Japanese aircraft, so you've got it as close as you can :) Also on the subject of the Aotake Blue, I think that western media has used that color a lot more in their model kits than it really was. I think it wold have been silver as you painted it. Most places I've seen it, it was used pretty sparingly or was hidden from view.

Huh. I always thought that the yellow bands were the same orange-yellow as the trainers or the yellow of USAF prop tips- I never realized that the id bands were actually this bright. I wouldn't be surprised by the overuse of Oatake- it's such a unique color you'd think paint companies would be trying to move as much of it as possible. At the same time, it seems like anything stationed in anything Japanese would need the anti-corrosion apart from maybe units in China- you are certainly the Japanese expert, though, so I'll defer to you.

THE LS KITS WERE GREAT FOR THEIR TIME, , YOUR LEN1 IS THE TRANSPORT VERSION OF THE TYPE, HASEGAWA MAKES THE BOMBER VERSION 2 VARIENTS, THE FINISHED MODEL LOOK VERY GOOD BUT IM NOT SURE ABOUT YOUR IJAAF COLORS AS THIS TYPE WAS A IJNAF TYPE.

Great job . Instead of spraying the nato black. Try a light color to make the dark colors brighter

Nice build, but I had a question: why did you paint the yellow over white identification stripe on the leading edge and then paint black over that? Didn’t you then have to re-paint the yellow over that? Or did you use acrylic over enamel paint and remove it?
@TheWaggishAmerican5 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, The process was white-yellow-mask-black primer. The other posibility is that I edited it in the wrong order. I honestly couldn't tell you- this was very early in my airbrushing life, and one of the my first shots at black basing.

Sure thing! I put it on the list. It'll be out sometime in December, once November Blitz is done. Sometime between Christmas and the New Year's Eve- I'll show off all my work for the past year, and show my workbench and setup.
