Great news! Sure being talented in spacial recognition can be useful in a bunch of ways in everyday life: using maps and orientation in unfamiliar places, merging safely onto high-spread traffic, and things like that. On a professional level, these talents might make you especially suited for engineering (visualizing and understanding intricate systems with moving parts), architecture and graphic design, and honestly many other fields. If you want to look into it more, check out the literature I used in the description box above. One of them talks about spacial ability at length-enjoy!

I am dyslexic and found this test easy, so I’m teaching myself piano, and making some progress with lots of intense efforts. Wondering if I will ever get really good at it though and if I should just abort the mission and go back to Art which I find easy.

I was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 5. I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. This punch hole test was a challenge for me to say the least lol I was like what!????? I got two of them though

I got 5/5 (dyslexic) and my (non-dyslexic) partner also got 5/5. We both used a different method however. I visualised the unfolding and he problem solved through a process of elimination using the answers.

Wow. Creepy. My partner who is not dyslexic also uses process of elimination for most tests, and used to do really well on tests because of this. I however did HORRIBLY on tests especially multiple choice. There was one class I had in college where it was so hard to do her multiple choice tests I started guessing and my grades went from D’s to A’s overnight 😂

My partner is dyslexic and he found this extremely easy. He could unfold the paper in his head and got all answers correct within 1 second. I got 3/5 but had to pause the video and take time figuring it out. Its really interesting

I am dyslexic, and a mathematician. I know that people have trouble with spatial reasoning, but I would never have guessed that people would struggle with this kind of spatial reasoning. When I think about it, it makes sense because this is fairly similar to nets for 3d images. Cool video! thanks!

I have been so insecure my whole life because I never did (score) as well as other friends in studies. I labeled myself *STUPID* regardless of hope much I learned and profoundly understood from those studies. 25 years later, I found out about dyslexia and that is the answer to my insecurity. I have dyslexia. Reading music has always been easy for me, it has patterns that are easily apparent. That it was really easy to get the answers, required no thought, made sense to me. Also, for math, I do the problems in my head before I write them down; this s a coping strategy my father (who had dyslexia himself) taught me when I was in kindergarten. Bless him. Throughout my life I have felt stupid at times and really intelligent at others. From 4th grade on I failed at spelling and when I had to answers the meanings of sentences quickly. Thank you.

This was really hard, I could not do it. I am mostly verbalthinker, can not imagine 3D in my head. I am not dyslexic. I really believe many dyslexics have a great gift in creative nonverbal thinking.

I’m 67 and have never been evaluated and along the way I read about dyslexia and realized I probably had it. I had all the problems associated with growing up in a school system that did not understand my needs and tried to make me fit their idea of education. One of the best days of my life was the day I finished my formal education. That was the first day of my real education, which continues to this day. I got 5 out of 5 on the test with out much effort at all. I am in the process of watching all your videos thank you so much for this vital information. I have a son-in- law and grandson who are dyslexic. The grandson is receiving much help in school and so is thriving. Also my daughter is an architect and my be dyslexic. Again thank you for what you offer, it is a blessing.

I got 4 out of 5 but I am not dyslexic. I read in the top 1% of the population. That means I read at a high speed with a high rate of retention. My son however has dyslexia as well as several other family members. I believe that I do have dyscalculia but was never formally diagnosed. Also, I am probably ASD but where most people would never know this about me and again have never been formally diagnosed. I found this channel after watching a video on TikTok where they were describing dyspraxia and I wanted to learn more about it. I watched another of your videos about people who have more than one diagnosis and answered yes to all 4 questions about dyspraxia. I am always bumping into walls, tripping, dropping stuff, and my handwriting has always been atrocious. It has gotten worse with age. I never could catch or throw. I will aim but it always seems to go a different direction. Jumping is just awkward for me to do. It is like I can't tell how much force is necessary if that makes sense. I did well in Latin as a language because it is unspoken. Just a lot of memorizing conjugations and diagraming sentence structure that came easy to me because language arts came easy to me. There are specific rules you follow in writing, spelling, and grammar that made sense to me but when learning algebra and geometry I don't seem to understand the rules or am I able to retain comprehension for very long. As an adult if I know that I will be taking a math test for a new job or something like that I have to review fractions, percentages, and formulas before taking those tests and I can usually pass that way as long as it is multiple choice. I can usually figure out which answers it can't be and get close enough to the correct answer but cannot work the problem out correctly remembering all the steps. I love essay tests. I can ace them every time even when I don't really know the topic. I can always bullshit my way thru it and my grammar and structure are good.

Wow! This was so interesting. I’m dyslexic (was diagnosed in last year of high school) and thought for sure I’d get them all wrong. I didn’t even see or realize the diagrams at the bottom were possible solutions. It took me a minutes to solve the first two in my head but got them correct. When I realized the options at the bottom were possible solutions, I knew immediately which was the correct solution, like it was intuitive. I honestly thought I’d fail! I’m a grade 2 teacher, with a student who is so much like me, as a child, it’s uncanny. I’m positive, he’s dyslexic and was looking for ways to support him and his family while we wait for testing. Interesting! I suspected I might have dyslexia for a while now, but am so "high-functioning" that it has been difficult to convince my uni to give me an assessment. But when I took your reading test, I couldn't get halfway through before time ran out. And when doing this test, I got 5/5 because I could "see" the unfolding happen in my head, usually within a second or two and without glancing at the answers, which was a really nice surprise! I was gonna let it go but now I'm wondering if I should push for that assessment again 🤔 not sure what benefit it would have though. But was defo a very interesting video, thanks for sharing!

I got 4/5 and I have dyslexia. In high school we had to take a military aptitude test so recruiters would know what branches and positions would be best for each person. That way they could spend their time recruiting people with the skills or whatever. Anyway, It was a long, all day test that asked all kinds of questions. Some were easy for anyone. "Which of these is an animal? A. Rock B. Cat C. Cactus. D. Pillow" But some of them were so freaking hard. When we got our scores back, it was comparing us to other students our age across the country in general, females, and males. I scored really high in mechanics even though I know nothing about that stuff. Then I remembered all of the questions with drawings and diagrams that other people said they struggled on. For example, it would show you like twenty gears, tell you that one was going clockwise, then ask which way the 17th one was moving. To me it just seemed like common sense, but apparently lots of people struggled. I got a lot of recruiters contacting me in the next few years, mostly from the navy

I got all 5. Struggled a bit on the last one, but got there in the end. Not diagnosed dyslexic but highly suspect I am. My son has just been diagnosed with dyslexia and has incredible visual-spatial skills. It will be interesting to see how he goes with this test.

I'm not dyslexic (got 1/9 on your dyslexia test), but I'm doing these tests out of curiosity since I'm neurodivergent (AuDHD). I managed to get all the questions correctly, but not through spacial reasoning. I counted layers of paper and therefore knew how many holes the answer had to have. One or two questions had the correct number of holes in more than one answer, and those I struggled with. I thought that was interesting from a test design perspective. I believe that if all the answers had the correct number of holes, the test would better measure what it was supposed to measure.

The study was interesting, I wish there was more on it. Unfortunately everyone that is diagnosed with dyslexia can have varying degrees of how much they are affected by their learning disablitlity. I for one learned to cope but still struggle. I found these to be easy enough. It would be more interesting if people had to guess exactly where the dots went without the multiple choice or how someone with a higher spectrum of dyslexia would pass these puzzles. Very cool video. Maybe tag on the end how these could apply to being an advantage (obviously it would be architecture or problem solving skills with Lego building or high levels of graphic design). I got 5 out of 5 correct. I'm also dyslexic and it helped me as a mechanic and an engineer of tools and car parts to be able to see all of the engine parts moving in assembly. I designed my first camshaft in 1994 and it is still in production. My dyslexic mind was a huge gift in my field once I was taught how to use it correctly.

5/5, I may have had an unfair advantage due to the creation of many paper Snowflakes over the Season working at an elementary School. I have Discovered many ways my dyslexia makes me more creative in all areas of my life. My grandfather was presumed to have this trait as well, however, his learning was stunted due to his inability to learn how to read, because of this I do have a drive to LEARN & TEACH, and through this journey I have made some phenomenal discoveries about myself. I'm 49 years old and have always "joked" about being dyslexic. In the past few years, I've wondered if I really am. Just watched one of your other videos and had 8 out of the 9 things you mentioned. Now in this video, I got all of these little tests, no problem. I was a graphic designer and did feel I could see things spacially that others couldn't right off the bat. Wierd. All 5 seemed straightforward to me. I have never been diagnosed with any learning disorders, but i mix up right and left (and east/west) all the time and had a lot of trouble with bdpq (until I worked out some mnemonic helps like b and d "look at each other in alphabetical order"). I also mess up simple arithmetic regularly and substitute one factor for another (calculating a 20% tip on $40 by dividing by 8 inatead of 5) and other odd mental substitutions. On the other hand, if I have any dyslexia, it certainly never hindered my academic performance or my general reading comprehension. I was always near the top of my classes, and now I am a prof.

I recently took up doing digital art. I am a very creative person. I have a flair for interior decorating and putting together outfits as well.

All right, I unfold them in my minds eye. I have kind of categorized myself as "number dyslexic" as a joke since I was in highschool. But since watching your videos I have learned that that's a real thing and I am pretty sure that I am dyslexic too. I am an artist and generally creative. Art was the only thing I excelled in in school, I did ok in biology too but not great but there is a lot of reading in Biology...my biggest weakness.

Easy, I mentally saw what it would open up to and instantly new the answer once the hole was punched in the paper. Took me about 1/2 sec to match the pattern of what I saw in my mind to find the right answer. What surprised me most was how fast I new the answer. I have had dyslexia all my life and it is always frustrating trying to explain to someone verbally what I see in my mind when working on complex IT issues. Drives me nuts in IT work when so many try to tell you to read the diagram or steps. Show me once maybe twice and I got it and can teach it to everyone else. That's why I always like to use analogies to explain what something is like in order to get a person to the point where that person fills in the missing puzzle peace for me to solve the mental model of the problem I see. My IT supper power is when I am easily able to explain complex IT concepts to people who are IT illiterate. Helps me get finance and management to spend the money on what is need for the business because I am able paint a mental picture for them of what will happen to the business if the choose option A vs B and not use IT geek speech which confuses the hell out of most of them in the room. Dyslexic's are not idiots they just process in a different way. It would be nice if the rest of the 80% none dyslexics would actually take the time to listen and not correct our spelling errors.

Whoa! I had no idea this was a strength. I tried this with a nondyslexic friend, and we found that I could figure out the answer more easily than them (we both got them correct though). I visualized unfolding the paper in my head, made a prediction, then compared my prediction against the answer choices to arrive at the correct answer.

I am dyslexic and I got 5/5. It is very easy for me to visualize the unfolding of the paper. I’ve learned over the years that I am good with spatiality and geometry. I worked as an architectural designer for 30 years. FYI, as a child in middle school I would do math problems by counting on my fingers. My math teacher caught me doing so and made impossible for me to continue. I instead started invisioning six sided dice and would count the pips in my head.

I got 4/5 correct (one of them I second guessed myself and changed answer last minute from correct one to incorrect one which were very similar). I don't have any diagnosis but I couldn't read or write until I was 8 (4-5 years later than typical) and have other struggles that could be indicative of dyslexia but I've never been tested. My method for this was visualizing the paper and unfolding it in my head before I guessed. I also found being able to identify how many holes there would be based on the folds to be super fast and easy which also assisted in my deduction process.

I had 5/5. I always excel in these types of tests. Years ago I took an object rotation test with 5 questions and multiple selections for the rotated object were allowed. I scored 11/12. The test scoring was: 3-4 typical female, 5-6 typical male, 10+ scientist or engineer. It was accurate for me. I have not been diagnosed with dyslexia, but a cousin tells us we are all dyslexic based on our complete inability to use correct words for things and mixing words in sentences. I flip numbers around a lot and have always been embarrassed by how slowly I read, even silently.

Got them all. about 50 years ago I took a course in organic chemistry. Visualizing the structures in 3 dimensions came easily for me. I described it to one of my classmates who was struggling as having a screen (in the frontal lobe area) where I could "see" the structures. She indicated that she had no such ability to visualize. I missed the first one as I wasn't fully paying attention, but the rest I got right. I was diagnosed with Dyslexia back in 2011, and have just had a provisional diagnosis of ADHD inattentive type about 2 months ago. I used to struggle so much with writing at school and during my first degree, but now I'm studying English and actually enjoy writing essays! Over time, and a lot of practice, I've found my dyslexia helps me when it comes to writing and editing (which is what I plan to do eventually) as I struggle to read and focus on poor grammar, it's so jarring to me that I can't take it in and end up editing it in my head to make it flow better. The ADHD on the other hand... still very new but I'm finding it explains SO much 😂

I got 4 out of 5, im dyslexic. my first approach to solve was to count the number of holes that should be at the end and then calculate where they should be. I didn't find it overly challenging but I did love how it made me think. I went pretty fast which is why I think I missed the one. loved this exercise and LOVE being dyslexic as an adult...did not love as a child.

I got the first two and the last one. I think I might be dyslexic but I found this difficult and struggled with it. On the other hand, it was much easier that trying to remember how to spell certain words - now, that's really difficult! It makes me wonder what perception is, to what extent is it passive or active, whether it relates to emotion, whether 'memory' plays a part in it, what 'memory' might be, what does it mean to be cognisant at all, whether - despite appearances or assumptions - 'focus' and 'concentration' may only be one form of 'perception', whether it can be defined, whether it can be measured, whether it can be evaluated. Some people might be interested in whether or not it can be improved. I think I'm a little more interested in what it is or might be. If one focuses too much on the elephant in the room, the room disappears! Maybe having ADHD just converts a simple enough task into a kind of kite, making all sorts of patterns in the sky, everywhere?

5 out of 5 here. Back when I was 9 to 10 years old I was a test subject at a university looking into Dyslexia, after many different tests and a follow-up they gave me a designation of an undifferentiated type, i.e. unclassified type. Growing up I continued to have difficulty with any spelling and reading long words, but not short ones. In standardized tests my vocabulary was literally off the chart while simultaneously in remedial English in 7th grade. As expected my strengths are in Art, Science, and Math that visualizes such as Trigonometry and Geometry. I ended up becoming an Architect too. Every time I take an adult test for standard Dyslexia I tend to score right at the threshold, but not there. The closest versions of Dyslexia I have seen are "Optilexia" and the older and mostly abandoned and outdated "Rogue Dyslexia" (from a medical paper trying to define a late appearing + high vocabulary + low spelling Dyslexia-like condition noted as a sub-group of a larger study, at one time considered an "acquired surface Dyslexia" but latter shown to be statistically distinct and lacking traits of the acquired) I still remember all the various tests that I went through in my study group as a kid and how at the end I just did not fit inside the classic symptom range. My solution has been to build on my strengths and compensate as best I can in the weaker areas. I've got great situational and temporal memory, spacial visualization and direction awareness, vocabulary, way finding, big picture conceptualization, art and photography skills. I still struggle with non-context labels such as people and place names, spelling, and reading longer words outside of context ques. These are nice videos and great to see/hear your insight and encouragements. I may not have classic Dyslexia but I appear to think like one.

I found this quite easy. When I was little I would learn new arts/crafts by looking at pictures and diagrams, never words. I loved origami. At the moment I am studying accounting and bookkeeping. To me numbers have a physicality to them that I find logical.

Glad to hear! Some spatial tests are used to identify mathematical talent, so that makes total sense that you would thrive in this area as well.

I'm dyslexic and got 5/5 almost immediately. I'm a programmer and I find it very easy to look at code and directly translate that into how it works and how everything is connected. Kinda like in the matrix when the person is looking at the matrix code and says they can see all the people in the code. I wouldn't be surprised if this is related to my dyslexia.

Surprised me😮 I thought I would have to think harder than I did. I did the exercise late at night when I was tired. The answers came to me in an intuitive sort of way. It surprised me that I got them all correct.

I got all correct. I'm a mechanical engineer and dyslexic with hyperactivity disorder. I'm ex British army and scored off the charts with problem solving skills as I joined the military. Some of us seem to have the ability to visualise plans, but I find I cannot visualise in my minds eye (when people tell you to close your eyes and picture, nope, nothing) 👍👍👍

I have been told by an educational psychologist after assessment hat I have mild dyslexia (who come up with that word to describe it is beyond me as I can never spell it lol) I got two out of three correct, one was a guess btw. I did not attend secondary school due to Anxiety - probably due to problems around this subject. I do not know if its dyslexia or the fact I did not go to school. I do have problems with spelling (the pc helps a lot) and also reading is slower that the average person, reading out-loud is a no go. This 'Advantage' test has not made me feel any better as now I just feel thick

I got all right. I’m dyslexic. I come from a long line of engineers. I never forget where an item is in a house even if I didn’t put it there, everything is mapped in my head. Funny enough I have a terrible sense of direction and would get lost in my own town. Great video.

I was diagnosed as dyslexic when I was in second grade. I have it in all forms, reading, writing, speech, and numbers. I know it’s subcategorized now, but it wasn’t in the early ‘90s. I got 5/5 of these correct. Not sure it means much, but interesting.

I got them all right. My dyslexia was severe when I was a kid. Now I have overcome most of the symptoms. I am a Graphic designer and Art Director now.

Each time, without mentally thinking about it, I guessed right, but at least twice after trying to mentally unfolding the paper, I changed the answer to the wrong one.

I did the the test and got 5 out of six correct , What was surprising was that recognizing the patterns of the holes was almost instantaneous - and Yes I am dyslexic.

5 of 5 I almost didn't even need to pause the video! I have never been formally diagnosed as dyslexic, but I have almost all the symptoms of dyslexia. (positive and negative)

Got all of them instantaneously But the last one. Which I went back-and-forth between C and D. But being unable to rewind the video in front of my face backwards and backwards and forwards. Pretty much at the same time makes it easy.

I found this quite a fun test, managed 5 out of 5 and for the most part was enjoying your placement of the hole. I was diagnosed as a dyslexic and got extension on all subjects for highschool. Currently working as a 3d animator / character rigger / programmer with quite a few spacial problem solving needed. Not sure whats the cause and whats the result though. Im guessing a lot of practice with spacial tasks would help, but perhaps i gravitated towards this kind of work because it just made more sense. Who knows.

I got them all right! I am dyslexic but I also did a ton of origami when I was young, so I know all those folds really well. I could imagine super easily what it would unfold to look like.

I have dyxlexia and I answered all of them correctly! I answered them all easily by visualizing it unfolding it in my head. I'm wondering how non-dyxlexics are viewing these types of problems.

I'm dyslexic and I got all but the first one right quite quickly. I think the first one I was not paying as much attention as I should and also I was not familiar with this exercise. I will volunteer that when it comes to packing suitcases, car boots or dishwashers I can't be beaten.
