Great music, great instrument, thank you! Usually viola d'amore's parts are performed on other instruments, so great to listen to a true one.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful music! There were many diverse instruments in the past that were dropped in the 19th century. Fortunately many of them are making a comeback now (such as harpsichord, recorder, viola da gamba). Hopefully this instrument will make a strong comeback too.

Excellently performed . In 1724 he published a Collection of Cantatas, and Lessons for the Viola d'Amour, which he sold by subscription. This publication the most successful sale of music by subscription in the 18th century. Interesting Ariosti played the viola d’amore in an entr’acte in Handel’s "Amadigi di Gaula". Jean-Philippe Rameau saw A. Ariosti's opera "Caio Marzio Coriolano" as an exceptional example of enharmonic composition. Enharmony allows for astonishing modulations (changes in tonality), through the use of a "pivot" note that belongs enharmonically to two tones that are very far apart from each other.

Why does it sound so squeaky? This does not resemble the sound of viola damour at all. Very disappointing.

@@papettipapetti3550 It is not easy to learn viola d'amore even if you miraculousy manage to find one and buy it. A good old valuable one. Such as I did. See the title of this video? Guess what I came for.
