A group of militants who make a lot of money from oil theft in the Niger Delta believe they are above board, and they conducted this dastardly act because the commanding officer and his team were bent on eradicating crude oil theft within the region

Kudos to the CDS, Gen. Musa, for granting the interview. I think he did well in answering the questions and staying focused on the issues. This is a very sensitive issue for the Chief, his men and even the nation at large, and as such there isn't going to be an easy way to resolve this. However, I think almost everyone agrees that the perpetrators should be brought to justice. We wish the people that have been tasked with finding those men success, and continue to pray for our fatherland, Nigeria!

Like all problems facing Nigeria, most of Nigerian problems are linked to the lack of Real Federalism in Nigeria. Nigeria Need a real Federal System of Government, that should have State police, Local Police and Forest Rangers, recruited from the localities, and working within the communities of their jurisdiction. This incident is a good example of where the Nigerian Army is been sent as external forces without the knowledge of the communities that they are working with , and this creates suspicion and lack of trust between the communities and the task force.

My grouse is anytime something of this unfortunate nature happens in the south-east or south south, the military will raze the town and shoot anything that moves. Nigerians have lost count of how many ambush the military have endured in the north, the last one was in Noger state where 36 soldiers were ambushed and killed, the rescue military aircraft was also shot down and 7 soldiers wounded. The nigerian army did not raze the town, declare anyone wanted and quietly ot died down. It is the duty of the southern delegates to the national assembly must.look into this different strokes for different folks if indeed Nigeria is one country.

Ask him where the military has to protect the civilians. Is that in the border area or in the within the country?

Contradictory, you said they went there unarmed, same time you want to recover your arms. Does that mean the military went to Okwuama with arm. Secondly the Governor is the chief security officer of the state, not the traditional ruler (monarch), so the Governor must know these criminals, where this traditional is, is very, very far away from Okwuama.

The only nation that deceive themselves in the world is Nigeria. Amalgamation is no more working, let all the regions be free and govern themselves. Oil money is wasted in Zamfara state by the idiots. What's going on ? Please, can someone help me with this ..?.

The military cannot investigate this kind of crime, it is the police that has the necessary skills to investigate and prepare this case for criminal trial before a civil court. You would note that since the military took over Okuama, no meaningful progress has been reported. Everything is not force. The military and indeed the security services is own defense against harm but this does not mean that they should act beyond the law or that they are bigger than Nigeria, they also have killed many innocent people and take part in the sale illegal crude oil. This is the truth. The military is only the one conducting the investigation, not a joint-task force investigation. The problem with this interview is that the Army seem to have a pre-conceived idea about who the criminals are even if they claim they are still investigations. How can you say the King must know what happened, when you have no result so of your investigation. Let things be done fairly and legally and justice done.

Good exchange and love the response of the general, however I was hoping that the press guy should have asked why the double standards by the military when officers were ambushed and assassinated by terrorists in the north, nothing happens in that community. But, always, in the south, the reaction by the military is completely different. Why? Explaining these double standards would've gone a long way to alley fears and suspicions by the citizens.

No matter what it is, it is a total disgrace on the traditional leaders to come out and talk those gibberish. Note if these truants catch any of you commenting or the journalists having audacity to ask useless questions from the General, they will disembody you too. They don't care. If the community members are part of the conspiracy then they should be flattened. How on earth will youths in a community kill and disembody these soldiers. If you people are willing to forgive them, me I cannot. If the soldiers like, they listen to you and not fight for the lives of their comrades. Totally disgraceful

If you had stationed ,Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV) mounted on the, highways streets, road and Bush paths and your Military have body worn cameras 📷 , there will be no need for picking suspects randomly . Chief of Army Staff, what is your job? Make the demands for ammunitions sophisticated weapons, gadgets, cameras from the President before embarking on a mission. Am highly disappointed in our Military Leaders.
