For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. Ecclesiastes 1:18 Dr. Sadler. I thank you for all of your work. Your generosity of spirit is much appreciated by all students and followers in class and online. I have followed you for several years and find this metaphysics online course timely. I will be participating with comments as I read, listen and contemplate. I have studied metaphysics, knowledge for the sake of knowledge, for over 25 years. In addition, I have been writing a treatise entitled Universal Dynamics the Metaphysics of ONE. In the Meditations Marcus Aurelius hypothesizes, “either all things come from a single rational source and combine together in a coherent whole… or there are only atoms a formless disintegrating mass.” The “single rational source” Marcus Aurelius refers to is the ONE, the SOURCE, the UNIVERSAL. The enlighten stands in awe and wonderment of the Goodness, Beauty, and Truth of the UNIVERSAL as they experience the Contradiction of the PARTICULAR. Thank you for allowing me to share. Love, Peace and Happiness Namaste

@@GregoryBSadler I have watched it several times with a new appreciation for the concept and word wonderment. I will be contemplating on wonderment and will write a comment about wonderment by weekend. You're a good man, I sincerely mean that.

I'm guessing it's safe to say that Aristotle would have been fascinated by the theory of evolution.
@GregoryBSadler5 жыл бұрын
Which one? There are and have been multiple theories of evolution>? As you know from reading Aristotle - since the videos aren't a replacement for reading the text - he doesn't just reference a "theory of X", but examines the specific forms and associated thinkers that are out there when approaching a matter of study

Are you going to make videos on Schopenhauer anytime soon?

I just finished a video game with a heavy philosophical influence, one of the first conversations in the game was about the ship of Theseus, for example. The main characters in the game were androids and robots (often questioning the meaning of it all while reading Kant and Sartre'). Part of the title is Automata, after watching this video I now understand the significance of that word and why it was chosen.

Aristotle isn't referencing robots capable of discussing anything though - basically just complex wind-up toys
@JoshV746563 жыл бұрын
@@GregoryBSadler I'm probably reading too deeply into it, but in the game most robots are basically just mindless wind up toys, a select few evolve beyond that and begin to ask why and try to imitate humans and our philosophies in the process. Its an odd game to say the least.

the automata thing was very interesting. theres a vidya game with this word and you dont see it often... in fact you dont see it at all

automatic, automation. . . there's all sorts of common English words that are transliterations of the Greek automata
