I do think that this may have been a reference to the sketch. Joe has put a lot of references to things in his music. For example, in the same song, Tilly & the Wall is referenced (Even in this demo). Rotary Park being a very traumatic reference. Then in Bahamian Rap City, literally in the first few lines it says, “dreaming sweet in C”. This quote quite obviously refers to “Dream Sweet in Sea Major” from another one of Joe’s side projects, Hawaii Part: II! Then in the song “Go To Bed” the first part has the same weird clicking sound as “Break it Down” by Sargasm. Another one! “Black People, White People” was a song used in rehearsals in 2009 for probably Tally Hall. So It probably isn’t much of a stretch for the machete line to be a reference to said Tally Hall sketch.
