Because director of this drama wanted so xD And more serious, Shi made a promise for his brother when he was still a kid. That he'll bring him freedom no matter what the cost. His brother Ka Suo was destined to become the next ice king but he didn't want to be a king at all, he wanted to lead a free life with the woman that his heart choosed. Unfortunately Ka Suo had no say in this whatsoever, he had to become the king and marry the mermaid princess that he didn't want. Shi was the youngest prince, so he decided to fight for the throne in order for his brother to become free. He didn't really want to be a king as well but he could sacrifice himself because of his promise for brother. As the ice king he had to fight with the fire tribe and marry the mermaid princess. Fire tribe attacks and he has to escape with his brother to the mortal world, all his other siblings are killed. Then he meets the fire princess that thinks he's a handsome mortal because he grows up and she enslaves him. He pretends to be her slave but finds out she's a lot like him and not like the rest of the fire tribe. They take a liking to each other. But Shi can't love her because he has to become the ice king, marry someone else and fight her family. So he cuts her off. But it's not so easy to escape love. They fight but he protects her and can't bring himself to attack her. So she thinks he likes her and she falls even harder for him. They would both have to betray their family to be together. For Yan Da it's easier as her family is cruel and never cares about her. But Shi would never drop his promise for brother to be with her as he deeply loves Ka Suo. I also think that would be selfish of him. At the end Yan Da dies to protect Shi from her father. You have to watch the show to get it. There's so many things going on xD But Shi doesn't die completely at the end. As he posseses the power of lotus from the other dimension, he uses it to revive Yan Da. Then there's 2nd season...

Damn Ka Suo who just wanted to become a mortal with Luo Luo (god as much as i liked Li Luo I couldn't stand Luo Luo!) and screwed all his 10.000 billion years efforts and his chance to finally get his fire girlfriend!! At least Ying Kong Shi finally admits his love for Yan Da (although we already knew about it... damn he chose to resurrect only his girl with the lotus!!). Why Ying Kong Shi??? This is why I never make promises to my simblings.... :-P :-P Though WTF is going to happen with 2 identical Shi's (one from the ice tribe and the other one from the Ice Fire, son of a vile man that has not still produced an heir... even more twisted. Fight his father with Se Mi, Yan Zhu and Xian Xue and become the king of the powerful Ice Fire tribe so that it will not go extinct.) in 10.000 years back from ice fantasy era?? Is Yan Zhu going to be there as well??? If I am not mistaken Yan Zhu like Yan Da was in love with Xian Xue... No??? People from Ice Fire tribe are definatelly OP!! I mean Ying Kong Shi could easily beat the shit out of his brother even though Ka Suo was supposed to be the most gifted spellcaster of his era. And even the fire king. He even got in and out of his kingdom of Despair like it was some kind of toy.

@@JustMariliza7 I'm not a fan of Luo Luo as well. She said she wants to look pretty and count Feng Suo's money at the end. I cringed. I prefered Li Luo from first season. They had their lame ending with Feng Suo I suppose. Doubt Shi or Ka Suo will be fully happy without each other. Shi ressurected Yan Da because of many reasons. 1st. He had the opportunity to do so. He found her soul on Mars which was suspicious. No one else's soul just flies around to be ressurected. I suspect it was Yan Hzu's plot and she used Yan Da as a bait to get free from the endless space. 2nd. He loves her, so he just couldn't help himself. And 3rd. He thought that he owns her this because she saved his life. So he had to return the favor. Like they always do in chinese dramas. You're assuming Ying Kong Shi travelled to the past because Xian Xue is there. But that not might be the case. Granny said that lotus lost the ability to change time when it froze. Besides Xian Xue acted like he knew where Shi will show up and like he knows him. Judging by his bright smile. He could have other ways for preserving his soul. Since Yan Hzu and She Mi came back to life, why not him as well. And yes, Yan Hzu was in love with Xian Xue. I think Xian Xue loved her as well. Otherwise Shi wouldn't love Yan Da and their souls wouldn't continuously meet in every life. We know that they were friends, it's nice to call it like that when you don't want to admit to anything more. There might be other story to why Yan Hzu became so twisted. I bet Xian Xue is longing to save her as well, despite of what she did. It might be because of her that he is alive in the first place. Knowing how Ice Fantasy works, Xian Xue knows a way to revive her. So if there would be season 3, Shi wouldn't want to stop himself again. He loves her and wants to make ice fire babies with her desperately. So it has to happen sooner or later xD
