Great video! I'm also a Tucson resident and photog... our resident Broad-billed just raised two recently-fledged offspring.

Thank you for this video! I live in Elgin/Sonoita area. I was recently gifted a feeder and was wondering what species I might see here. I grew up in Tucson, and we always had feeders out. At the time, I didn't know many of the names. I've been to the Desert Museums aviary several times and learned a lot more. Like you, the Rufous is my favorite.

I love your video. We live in Castle Rock, CO @6400 ft. I make about 3 gallons of nectar per week (4:1 mixture). We have 14 feeders and lots of flowers. Once the Roufus arrive here in July, their entire job seems to be to watch the feeders and fight like Mike Tyson 😂. They're beautiful but very aggressive. The Ruby Throated males are simply cowards in comparison 😅. I wish I had them year round, but that's just a pipe dream for me as my husband hates the heat and would've live anywhere else.

Yours was a most enjoyable video to watch, precisely presented in a comforting voice, and brilliantly illustrated with your very excellent photographs. Know that it was enjoyed on a chilly Idaho morning over a hot cup of coffee. A beautiful way to start my day! Thank you.

I went to SE Arizona last July, and got 13 of the 14. The Plain Capped Star Throat being the only one I didn't get.

Great video! Heading to SE Arizona early August to hopefully catch most of these hummers, especially the Calliope :)

Saw my Calliope at Casa San Pedro. A great B& B.

Thank you for the video. I tried to attract hummingbirds in this summer first time. I was so happy when I saw one on my feeder. And later I had two more on other feeders. Now they all are gone. I was cleaning the feeders every day, I changed nectar twice in a day in hot weather. Where are my little angels? I am so disappointed. I live in Central Florida. My feeder are still hanging up. I am waiting for my birds back. 😢

I live in South FL, been getting Ruby throated to my yard and feeders for years. They arrive in mid-September and head back north usually late March/April. Don't worry, they'll be back. Try to find a shaded spot for the feeder, I change my nectar every two days. I've also been very lucky to have a Rufous in my yard the last two winters as well.

Have fun birding in Arizona. It’s an exceptional state for birds!
