Hey Goob, I learned something valuable from that video: you went through 3 Be Free water filters. I will be sure to send myself some replacements along the way this September. Thx for the tip.

If a tent lasts one thru hike it’s pretty good

Awesome Job Goob, The more I watch hiking the more I see Hikers and Hunters are always in the lookout for gear. I finally found Boots that are great for hunting, But no way would I want to go hiking in them. I think I told you about On X maps, When I am out I am always tracking my distance, So I have one of my kids signed into my account, I drop a pin, To let them know where I am starting from, Then I track what I am doing. If I have any trouble, I hit end track and they know exactly where to find me, Granted I am a hitting that age where I don't worry, But they do. So they can at least feel better knowing what is going on. That might be a option for family to know you are safe. Looking forward to Florida. Thanks for taking us all along.

Was waiting for your review of the GG trekking poles and wondering how the twist locking mechanism worked out for you. Your experience was pretty much the same as mine with other brands using the twist lock. Will stick with my trusty, work horse Black Diamond w/ ergo cork grips. I also don’t like straps and remove them before ever getting on the trail. Some people swear that straps “help” them while hiking. Not for me. Looking forward to your next adventure!

Thank you for all of the great videos! I really enjoyed following your trip on the Arizona trail. Why did you decide to change to the larger Durston backpack?
@goobsadventures6 ай бұрын
The 40L pack felt too small, more like a 30L and the 55L pack feels like a 40L pack.

@@goobsadventures That makes sense. I was wondering if that was the case. A very helpful thing to know about that pack. Thank you.

What was the brand of sun Hoodie? Also-- a friend bought the same hiking poles and they "seized" and wouldn't open. They also can shatter when putting a bunch of weight on them. Long live Black Diamond Trail Ergo poles! Thanks for the review.

The sun hoodie is from Baleaf.

what camera did you use? how did you do editing (in a tent at night)? was the camera recording throughout the day, or just at selected times? how did you keep the camera/phone charged enough to do the editing? amazing videos.

I used the Sony ZV-1 for all my filming, taking shots throughout the day and spending at least an hour editing in my tent each night. I loaded all the clips to my phone and used the Lumafusion app for editing the final movie. I would charge everything up overnight and the 20,000 mAh battery was enough to keep everything going for up to 10 days if I used it carefully.

how often did you use the gas?
@goobsadventures2 күн бұрын
Maybe only 3-4 boils per week.

I remember you saying you wight around 50+ kg. How do you manage to carry all of that? What is the weight you have on your pack, 20kg? Cheers and congrats on another completion. Btw, there is a new thruhike in France, 3000 km, Hexagate.
@goobsadventures6 ай бұрын
With 5 days of food and water it’s still only about 12kg, not too bad for me.

I think the main reason your poles did not work out well for you is because you chose not to use the straps. You actually have it backwards in regards to straps. when using the straps it allows your hands to be more free and loose, but when not using straps it requires your hands to actively be gripping onto the poles and thus "locking them in place". You really REALLY should actually give straps another try. when they are used correctly, they are a complete game changer. you never actually grip down on the poles at all. all your weight gets distributed along the palm of your hand onto the straps and it allows your hand to move around freely.

Some people don't use trekking poles at all but to each their own.
