When I was about 12 yrs. old my family traveled down to Tucson from my home in Coolidge, AZ. We were shopping at the Sears store and I wandered off on my own to look around at bicycles. I came around a corner and there was a man with a cowboy hat behind a small table selling his paintings of native American children. He tried to sell me one, but I said I didn't have any money. He said why don't you bring your mother over to look at them. My mom did come over, but we did not buy any paintings. I learned later that he was Ted DeGrazia. This was in the 1960's and I always wished we had bought one. This was before he became more famous. I am sure even a small original painting of his would be pretty valuable today. Years later I attended the U of A and visited Ted DeGrazia's original studio north of the city, I remember it being were rustic. One of my favorite stores was Tom Bahti's that was full of artifacts of North American & South American Indigenous people. It was almost a combination of a natural history museum and a retail store. He also had lots of pre-Columbian artifacts for sell.

Ted de Grazia is more of a humanitarian than Padre Kino. It defames Ted de Grazia to compare the two. No comparison.
