The true ARK experience. The next step up from Dodos for me was raising raptors. Unlike Dodos, raptors can kill a trike as a swarm. You can put a saddle on raptors and they're wicked fast, so they can protect your Dodo factory farm. Long term there's the T-Rex saddle with a built in laser cannon to look forward to.

I've played through PvE and PvP ARK for over 800 hours and I'm still amazed that I've learned about prime meat from dodo hatchlings from Gura

Prime meat can be harvested from _any_ creature that's less than fully mature, not just Dodos. Creature size effects how much meat you get(obviously) and if I'm not mistaken, development stage (baby, juvenile, adolescent, etc) effects the ratio of meat to prime meat you get. It can be really useful for pre-kibble tames if you don't have an Ichthyornis to use for Prime Meat harvesting.

I knew that ending was coming. There is absolutely no one who starts this game fresh, who have little to no real help, who make it out of the first play through without dying or losing their first dinosaurs and feeling that first bit of heart break. Sorry, Gura and Mumei. They were good dodos. My first loss was on the PvP map, The Center, where me and a buddy hiked to the top of a mountain with a much loved Ankylosaurus and we encountered the biggest meat eating dinosaur on the Island or the Center maps...and needless to say, we lost everything. RIP Anthony. You were a good dinosaur.

The closing act of the stream is a classic example of “everything that could have went wrong, went wrong.” From the triplets dying in synchronization moments before Gura fed them, to the trikes coming in out of nowhere and converging specifically onto the bungalo, to _every_ Dodo aggroing onto the trike, to Gura barely not saving eeeeeeeeeee because of being just about overencumbered... Like, that’s some early-2000s fanfic levels of misfortune right there.

By the way Gura, I know you like to be thematic, so I should also tell you that if you level oxygen and movement speed you can eventually swim as fast or faster than sharks, basically becoming the Aqua Man of Ark. Movement speed also helps on land. Oxygen used to be the only way to raise movement speed in water, or at least the most prominent, but now it's a lot lower so leveling movement speed helps more, but both combined helps a lot, plus Oxygen gives you more time to stay underwater without needing to come back up for air. Once you get flippers and the body piece of scuba gear you'll be set as long as you don't get killed underwater(which can be pretty bad if you're deep underwater, there are a lot bigger dangers than Megalodons, but jsyk a while back Megalodons were made to be pack animals, getting a buff to damage and defense in packs, and also were given a debuff on their bite which makes you slower, meaning if you get bitten you're pretty much dead if you're not on a dino of your own). Just don't forget to put some points in your weight cuz you're gonna need it. I usually go for about 300 weight.

This was a fun stream, I really enjoyed playing that game ^ ^ As someone new to the game, it is so good to start fresh and learn this way, because new people who join already established groups have no appreciation for what it takes to get there. I hope you will try the game again, since once you learn the basics, then wild dinosaurs no longer seem like a threat, and even as a brand new character you will have advance without issue. Some general tips: Food meter depletes slowly, but is also used to refill stamina and health meters, so if you avoid taking damage and sprinting everywhere, it will last much longer. Pickaxe is good for meat, flint, and thatch; Axe is good for skin, rocks, and wood. Punching hurts you too. Narco berries (black) will put things to sleep, and you can force feed them to unconscious dinos, Stim berries (white) refill some stamina while dehydrating you, the rest of the berries are good for eating and feeding to dinos to tame them (Mejo berries, purple, are the best berry for taming). For knocking out dinos: The club is a PvP weapon, not good for dinos, the first good item is the slingshot, headshots do more damage and knock them out faster. For anything that runs away, use a bola. You can walk up to a Phiomia's head, bola it, then headshot it multiple times with the slingshot to knock it out before it has time to run away. I recommend always carrying a few bolas on you, since when a raptor or other smallish predator finds you, you can lock them in place and kill them safely. Dino inventories are like a fridge, store food on them so it lasts longer. Later you will get access to the preserving bin, which will be your main fridge for the game until endgame when you have electricity. When babies are born, they last for a while before dying while unclaimed, giving you some time to grab food from inventories. As soon as they are claimed, put food in their inventory before claiming the next one. Only have to hand feed in baby form, when adolescent they can eat from a feeding trough (if you have one).
