@@da_blade5040 back in the day the games didnt have DLC's or even internet capabilities so there was no way to update the game and continue to work on it. Because of that they had to actually produce a finished product that people would be interested in buying. In addition to this the "gamers" were not as prevelant and were much more discerning on what they purchased because 60$ for a video game 15 years ago was much much more than 70$ for a video game now. this meant that in order to actually draw a profit from their games they needed to be on point with the development. Now you can sell a half backed project with the promise that you'll "finish it one day dont worry" and thats good enough. Especially because of the streamers who will buy any unfinished project just to cash in on the hype from the launch of the game and the subsequent slander and smear campeigns they get to cash cow off of.

One thing they might need to refine is placing death marker on your death cache and not the body which may have landed then gotten eaten elsewhere. I have seen a few content creators lose their stuff that way. I've seen the death markers disappear once they're in the area and not on the cache. I tried posting this to the Ark devs but I think if enough people tell them, they make do something about it. Maybe even a toggleable death beam?

It isnt perfect for sure. You can go into your map and rehighlight your death icon. Just select the icon again and it reappears and I think stays when you are even on top of it

My fix for the UI menu system is Hold E as If your going to use the wheel but click off the wheel (not selecting anything) and you regain control of the camera. Hope this helps others. Love your vidz

i don't like how games nowadays require you to spend a fortune on a pc just to run the game smoothly. feel like most players are not willing to spend 800 -1000€/$ on a GPU just to play a 60€/$ title. no clue if its all just a optimisation problem but it must be possible to also play on older graphics cards.

Oh it's an optimization issue. Wildcard is notoriously bad at optimizing. Even ARK 1 was never properly optimized, it still has huge fps drops in certain areas and that game is from 2015 and we're talking with cards from this year. Forgot to mention that tropical wyvern water breath gives super duper hyper massive fps drops, like, from 144 to 5, so yeah, they suck at optimization.

@@Sassafrass95 WildCard is a good developer that works under Snail Games, the IP holder. I love Ark, I have met many friends, interesting new people, ups and downs, introduced it to younger people in my family and they still play. Is it worth the price to me? Absolutely. Am I a fan of Snail Games, no, I wish my money was not going to them. This might be the last good game WC puts out for over a decade, seeing the big, polarizing changes coming in Ark 2. I do not think Buzz is waffling, he is providing both sides of the argument as well as giving the facts. Ultimately, it is up to you to make the determination, there are many reasons to play or not play. Would be interesting to know if you buy or don’t buy it. Maybe leave a reply if you don’t mind, I find these kind of things fascinating. Take care.

I'd say one thing you forgot to mention is the amazing new building system and several things they took from mods like Krakens Better Dino's and of course S+ and I don't remember the mod but they took the structure hight increase from that. All amazing improvements.

something i've said in our old discord servers. "if you put lipstick on a pig it doesn't make it a unicorn it just makes it a more expensive pig" as someone that's got tens of thousands of hours on official pve servers im extremely jaded with how all of this was handled. ASE was an E.A game when they sunsetted it imo as will ASA when they sunset it for ark 2 "IF" it ever comes out that's just snail/wildcards way of doing things. to me all they did was reskinned ase same as they did for atlas, kept all the untested flaws and merged in most of the S+ mod if not as well as other mod coding into the live game (without crediting the people that coded those mods but i could be mistaken on that) again just a jaded biased opinion. if you and others are enjoying it then that's your thing and are totally welcome to it :)

The single player resources not respawning issue is still alive and well in ASA. In ASE there were some settings you could change, as well as some console commands, and actions you could preform to mostly get rid of them but, even though it would've been a very simple fix, they have not been changed or implemented officially. I can only guess that I'll have to continue explaining this moderately confusing fix to people on Reddit a couple times per week from now on like I always have with ASE. Oh well..

The reason the game has problems is it wasn't ready, but they had to release what they had, before October 31st, or nitrado would have owned a huge chunk of the game, per their contract. So it was going to be released, no matter how playable it is.

I went in to a discussion with Steam and ultimately refunded ASA. Wild Card rushed the game out to appease Snail and to make money because they were bankrupt. Now they're on damage control but only have a handful of devs that are actively trying to fix the ongoing issues -- all the while promising Console release in November (Microsoft/Sony won't let this game pass Cert in it's current condition) and promising Scorched Earth in December? There's no way in hell.

With the cam locking after inventory all you need to do is click middle mouse button in( brings up ping wheel) just need to tap and it fixes. But yes very frustrating bug

I figured ASA would've been a polished version of ASE. Its sounding more like all they did was port the game to unreal engine 5 and change the UI. Still has shaky stability, shitty AI, and the same performance issues except on a higher scale. I dont get how studio wildcard can add new dinos when the core issue of the game has always been it simply functioning horribly.

When the game doesn't have to by micromanaged graphically to be playable, it actually looks like an update and really is environmentally stunning. However, it's a little weird that your ASA looks like my husband's ASE in quality, just with more details. Unfortunately, occasionally pretty environments doesn't make a game good.

I bought my copy of ASE on the 9th of June 2015 and I could not put it down for at least 9 months. I'm a bit of a fan boy. Same thing now with ASA, loving it to death. My experience is that RTX feature are not stable. Once I disable RTX then no crashes at all. Hopefully SW and Nvidia can get it resolved.

The crashes have to do with the latest graphic drivers, i installed the studio drivers from nvdia instead and no more crashes. Also they just fixed the inventory mouse issues with a patch pretty awesome right ? ;)

1 - Therizinosauruses seem as populace as dilos. They are currently the bane of my existence. I have seen lots of Titanosaurs all over the map, and have gotten into large groups of brontos as well. I think they spawn range for these have changed. 2 - Compies for a while (even in old Ark) won't attack unless there are at least three of them, so they run up as say hi until that happens. 3 - I have seen that camera lock issue only once, after accessing the inventory of a baby dino I was feeding. The only way I was able to fix it was to access his inventory again. 4 - I have been successful in setting up a privately hosted server for me and my cousin to play on, so my review on Steam finally changed from Not Recommended to Recommended. 5 - I can see why they launched it as early release. It is pretty buggy so far, and they have a long way to go. However, it is insane how different the game is from the original. The map differences are huge. I'm impressed, and the only thing I have to complain about is the Nitrado lockin, but that is not as important to me because of my above-mentioned point four.

Being a console player, I have yet to play ASA myself. But some of the new building mechanics are well worth mentioning. You can now sink foundations without the need of a pillar trick. Placing a wall, doorway, window is now the same. Simply place the wall then hold down a button and change it into a doorway. What I feel is actually a downer is you no longer need pipes for water or cables for electricity. It really is a plus but I used to pride myself on being too hide these objects so well. And what use is a tek gen now that s regular generator does the same thing?

I actually like it, when the bigger dinos are that rare because ASE allways felt way to overcrowded to me with the Brontos for example spawning every 10 meters. I wish they lowered the spawn desity of the Megalodons because it's allways been impossible for me to tame or farm anything under water because of all the Megs.

Dino density is a weird one. I have the exact opposite problem. I read on ASE wiki that aplhas are a rare spawn and I can't seem to take a single trip in any direction without running into one. My storage is loaded with alpha raptor claws, shark fins, mosa fangs, etc. I thought the game was just trying to push me to be better because of how many deadly high level dinos were right at the easy south island starting locations, but from what you're saying that's not the case? I'm still running on the release build, I wonder if they messed with the density to try and improve performance.

Yes. Lets be honest here, not with just Studio Wildcard but with game developers in general. 1. Deep Learning Super Sampling has made game developers LAZY. Rather than make sure a game is optimized for a plethora of hardware they rely on this technology to "fill in the cracks". I could go on and on how this has negative impact but im sure most of you know what im talking about. 2. Open Betas seem to be thing of the past. Back in the day Game developers had these programs that people signed up for. You provided your hardware specifications and gave feedback and error reports back to the developer so that they could optimize the game better for everyone playing. Your payment for doing this was the chance to get to play the game early before alpha and final release. Developers RARELY do this anymore. In Studio Wlidcards case here... All in the name of hype and "secrecy", skipped this step and went straight to a PAID launch. Now everyone unfortunate enough to spend the money as well as die hard fans are PAYING to be beta testers for this unoptimized peice of garbage. This practice is getting more common and its complete and utter rubish yet, fanboys are gonna sit here and defend this practice. I purchased this game and within 82 minutes i crashed 3 times. That is when i realized Wildcard was playing everyone for a fool (which is working) and I emidietly returned this game and got my money back. Im not paying 45 dollars to beta test a game. Period. Thats their job. When they get everything fixed at others expense and agrivation ill buy the game but, untill then they can suck a big fat toe.

You didnt talk too much about the dino AI but that's not only an issue in ASA showing legacy AI issues from ASE but also seemingly new ones too. Anthomnia on their youtube channel did a video called "It only took 20 hours for ARK to show it's true colors.. - ARK Survival Ascended EP 2" where he literally ran in circles behind alpha raptors without getting hit and hitting it almost to the point of death(he, like you, kept crashing incessarntly. As for computer demands on ASA, its no different that the same issues that happened with ASE. When it launched in 2015, many comps had issues(still do really) and even by 2017 when the highest 1000 series nvidia card came out(1080ti), nvidia still recommended that it not play Ark in the max graphics then. Basically, Snail-Wildcard are doing this intentionally as they did then to "future proof" so that years from now top end rigs will be able to consider the game eye candy and perform best then. You'll see an improvement for sure on your 4090 but even still now 4090's are having some issues.

nivida is having issues with most of the new releases, they're top end, and expensive... but issues in all the new ones even with the 4090's. meanwhile my 6700xt amd, no issues, game bugs yep! definitely bugs, and too many crashes, but no graphical issues. it's been the same for forza, BG3, and starfield.

I found old problems with the Loot Crate landing inside the ground. Then invisible drops appear around the voulcano mountain. And also dinos getting stuck on the rock is still there.

I’ve had tons of loot drops in the mesh but in ASA I have at least been able to access them unlike in ASE where you couldn’t open them if they were meshed even a tiny bit.

My major issue im having is that my dinos just fall through the world randomly. This has happened when dropping the dino from an argy, by trying to swim from water to land, and just by taking my eyes off them for a second. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve notice with that mouse issue, it hapoens to me when I’m in the radial menu of Dino’s. Just re-enter that Dino’s radial menu and that fixes it for me

odd i been in game and pve server crashed often my client game didn't and that is odd, i noticed sometimes the crossbow stops firing and i had to switch and back and some times dinos stop collecting resources, but crash to desktop or client freeze no i did have that yet.

issue no.4, the UI bug, can get fixed by opening the exact same inventory again and transfer something in-between the two. i actually didn't know the emote bit so i started going through everything i could think of. that's how i found this out.

I have a 11900k and an rx 7900xtx and im struggling to play on 4k at medium setting anyone know why?

You can press the T key to get your mouse locked back in again. You don't have to do an emote, just get the wheel up. Middle mouse button will work too.

If ark crashes and takes over your PC again, try using windows + tab and creat a new desk top. That usually gives me control back when other games try to freeze lock my PC

I’ve always found pressing “sign out” from the ctrl+alt+delete to work. It closes all games and programs.

Glad it wasn't just me. If you get the mouse lock issue hold T and select nothing. This will also reset your character mouse.

On my single player mode ASA it keep on crashing out but when I play on unofficial mode it is totally ok put my graphics card is a NVIDIA 4080 why it does not crash out on unofficial but it's crashes out single play mode it is mental

My experience has been completely opposite. But there might be an explanation. I am playing the game through GeForce Now cloud gaming. I'm also playing on only unnoficial servers. When the game was released, even on the 2nd best cloud streaming option and on fiber internet, I was having issues. Crashes, fps issues, hard stalls, and so on. Since the last updates, things are far better. I'm playing at 90 fps on medium settings. The server is more stable. There are only a few minor bugs, nothing too crazy to freak out about. I meam, it's Ark. The biggest issue I have is the mods. They are unstable, always updating, out of date, invalid, etc... Then some mods just bug out and delete stuff in-game. Stack mod broke and deleted every single resource/crafted item obtained while we had it installed (basically everything). Cryopod mod used to destroy dinos. They "updated" it, and now we notice that it turns bred dinos into wild tamed dinos. You don't get imprint boost since it's not counting as a dino you raised. Cryoing dinos for a better imprint resets the imprint timer. They should have released the game with cryos. There is no point in playing a long-term server with cryopod mods. We have to wait for Extinction or for them to just release them officially before.

Another way to fix the camera being stuck bug is holding the interact key and using the advanced interact menu, you dont need to select anything in the menu, just open it and close it, fixes the camera from not being able to move. Still a really dumb issue that needs to be fixed

For the mouse bug, click ur middle wheel to get control back easiest fix til it’s patched. And Quick drop only works when you first open a menu, if you click anything it bugs “O” quick drop

With it still being a mixed bag, I'm waiting to pick up ASA until it's either running better or I can get a decent deal on it. I am excited for the Dino tracker map option though... I spent near 5 hours looking for an Otter in ASE that I lost because of a (personal)server crash and was distraught when I thought I wouldn't find her again. It's going to make dino management much better.

Your pc freezing up is the Nvidia drivers 546.01 drivers. I had these exact crashes in war thunder, ark ascended, as well as cs2. I rolled back the drivers and I'm stable across the board. I'm definitely going back to radeon with my next upgrade.

Majority of crashes are caused by players computer issues causing a conflict.. I haven't had a crash in awhile. Our server has normal dino population. Too many people, have an issue, and make it seem like every other player will have same issue. There's plenty of bugs to be sure, but many of us have minimum issues

Game is unplayable for me even with a 3090. Not due to the graphical load but the constant crashing. I have zero tolerance for crashing every 10-15 minutes. Wish I would have spent the $40 elsewhere. But what else was I expecting from a studio that squandered a half a billion of Ark's proceeds in 2 failed EV start-ups and therefore needed a cash grab to not have to cancel Ark 2???

A lot of crashes can be fixed by switching to the nvidia studio drivers rather than the gaming drivers. I was getting a crash about every 10mins on average and since switching over to the studio driver I now haven’t had a singe crash while playing. The only crash I still getting is in the menu. If I try to bring up the server list menu up too quickly after starting up the game it will crash 50% of time. If I wait for 5 seconds and then go to the server list it’s fine, no crash.

For the mouse breaking issue, I usually encounter it when accessing shoulder pet inventory. I fix it by holding R and letting go

Thanks for showing some of the more notable pros and cons. Visually the game does look so much nicer - but the technical issues do not yet make the game worth the frustration it apparently causes. Yes, it is early access, and it's full-price, but there's enough in your quick-review to confirm in my mind that it's just 'too early' to buy. Hopefully they'll be furiously working to fix the major issues, at least. I don't expect 'perfect' games, but game-breaking crashes/features on such a regular basis per session is just a no-starter, at least for me. Thanks again! :) *LIKE*

Without getting into each point you raised , I got to say I am not seeing much of the issues you're complaining about... My 7900xtx is set at full epic 100% res and getting 50-60 fps with clouds off(those clouds look like trash anyway) . Of the main issues you're having the meshing is a big issue BUT it comes with a major improvement.. The mesh no longer knocks carried riders off platforms which makes Anky/quetz metal farming very easy.( I did like it harder as it made my pilot skills seem better) . Over all I am having a great time in the game ,rarely disconnect, and hope this video doesn't sway someone from giving it a go.. My clanmates are all having a very positive experience with it.

I have a similar issue with my inventory too. I have noticed though if I go back into the crafting station, etc, and then press F it seems to reset itself. Sometimes.

I have a 1660ti running the game on high, I only had one crash at launch during character creation. A few bugs here and there, I never played ARK so I don't know about any bugs that transferred over.

As far as the "early access" defense for the bugs that are in the game: remember that this was SUPPOSED to be a remaster/upgrade to an already established 8 year game. This was supposed to fix many of the glaring bugs and issues the old game had. Unfortunately, from the videos and feedback, Wildcard seems to have failed. Also, whole Nitrado/Server fiasco is going to be a deal breaker in lf itself for many(including me who likes to host servers for friends). I hated Nitrado when i first started playing Ark and immediately ditched them for alternative hosts. The fact that they are monopolizing not only hosting services but also preventing private, individual-ran servers to force players to have to buy their services is pathetic and greedy.

The whole Nitrado thing is already over and done. You can host servers without purchasing anything.

@@JappaChow Unless I missed something extremely recently, doesn't Nitrado still own exclusitivity rights to hosted servers? Meaning I can't go to another company like GPortal to host a server? If that is still in effect then it's still a deal breaker for me and probably for many others.

@@JappaChow You can only host your own server if you happen to have a spare computer. Otherwise you're stuck with Nitrado paying 25$ a month. There was no win.

Tip if you hard crash to where you can’t access the task manager. Ctrl alt delete and select sign off instead of restarting your computer.

You can get out of the mouse freeze also by holding E bringing up the wheel and then escaping that.

I figured out a faster way to get out of the mouselocked Inventory bug: Use the ping system by holding down your mousewheel button. A lot swifter than enganging in emotes. Still annoying to have this bug in the first place, though.

My main gripe is the mouse issue, when I access a shoulder pet inventory it disconnects my mouse, and also if I am renaming a dino, this needs fixing now.

on v25.61 (server) v25.62 (client) - 11/1/2023 they apparently fix the dino spawns in single player and also fixed the mouse loss with inventory. but man there's still so much to go like the reload glitch a straight up legacy issue that's still there. I would have liked if they made gameplay more responsive like switching between weapons and tools on the hot-bar.

I was having the same issues as you. I kept crashing but I lowered my settings all to low and now i haven't crashed in a week and I put in 58hrs since then 😅 I have 32 gb of ram and have a 3070ti with a ryzan 7. The game takes a lot to run. You gotta lower it if you can't run it. a 3090 I still don't think it is enough for your settings. Also, I used nividia ultra proformence, and it really helped. Agin, these are my opinions, and my suggestions

Clicking escape, moving my mouse and resuming gameplay fixes the inventory/whistle mouse issue as well. A lot faster than emoting

meshing is at it worst, ive never really had issues with the mesh in pve, but now theres issues with peoples dinos just falling through the mesh randomly while in their base. its kind of laughable that its more of an issue in asa that it was in ase, hope they fix that soon
