Before the net rounds were added with Gen 2 I’d use two gates and a snow owl to freeze it while I placed the gates while sitting on owl. Works great 👍🏻

This is the best way to tame them, I can confirm. I've tamed dozens this way on Extinction and Lost Island. Trouble is, I usually find them fighting a mess of stuff, kill those and it jumps into another mess! I try to jump off my mount, as you did here, to draw its agro, then take it to a safer place if possible.

The harpoon/net trick is useful on so many critters...even Quetzals. All you need is a friend with a Pteranodon.

Cool thing about these is if you use a breath attack prior to falling, it will slow your descent. And if you do the dash, then do the forward jet and hold the breath attack it will glide across the air

Thanks, this helped a lot, though if you looked at the food level at the moment it was tamed you'll notice that you only need to have the food drop by about 500 to 1k. No need to spend 12+ minutes to make it lose almost 3k food.

In ARK II I hope that super spyglass/awesome spyglass are native. I get why certain properties of the mod would be busted in PvP, but the stat read out is just too good. Where every specimen is the exact same model you can't tell an Adonis of a Rex with 40+ base combat stats versus one at the same level that's got all of it's Points in food and oxygen.

Very good method, not sure whether to use this quicker method or Captain Fatdog's safer method. The last time I tamed a mana, I just chased it on a rock drake and blasted it with tranq arrows.

Every mana I’ve ever tamed has found me 😂 Bloody puppers 😂 As someone that uses this method for taming I recommend you don’t remove the gates tell after you cryo them or get a saddle They like to float ways if they jump glitch in the gates

If the mana is floating up in the air it's an easy tame. Look up on dododex how many shots you need, then shoot all but 1. Then fly up with a snow owl and hit it once then dive to the ground. Land, look up and shoot before it hits the ground.

Awesome Spyglass, so much better. More detailed info including colours, can show contents of loot drops and dropped bags, you dont have to hold it in your hand, fully customizable.

Honestly if you don’t have kibble the good news (if you’re on lost island) is that Ovis’ aren’t as scarce or rare as The island. Once it’s knocked out (make sure you have a fast tame like a maewing or snow owl) go find a sheep (mainly by the plains next to the redwoods) kill a sheep for their mutton and bam! Also an effective insta tame. Same method before all that like video suggests lol

@@LordRazer3 these aren't dragons. The only dragon in the game are bosses. Dragons are easily identified by having arms that are seperate from their wings

@@freakbag420 Please do not lie about what a dragon is or what you assume what makes one. You are insulting many cultures and there history over a stereotype. It is widely accepted that in myth a large lizard or serpent like creature may be viewed as a dragon. What you described is known as a western dragon. All wyvern's are dragons but not all dragons are wyverns. Think chihuahua and Northwestern wolf, Look nothing alike but both are in the Canis family. Plus dragons are for the most part fiction so I'll use Ark in game lore. Wyvern's, Rock drake's, and even the Managarmr have the science name Draconis in there Dossier. Draconis is Latin for dragon so in the world of Ark by wild card they are seen as dragons.

I play official amd I’ve tamed seven this past week n half not that it’s a lot but every time I jus immediately knocked it out n it was fully tamed within 5 minutes, you can test if u want but as long as it’s jumping while your shooting it you should b good to immediately knock it out and still insta tame or at least get 70-80% instantly, I get 100% efficiency every time jus using raw meat, I did that on extinction tho but it should b the same for lost island. Regardless good job perfecting the method Steve, this has to b the best mobile trap yet possibly best trap at all. Keep up the good work my friend

Hi texasfive2, not every Dino got an head multiplier. Pteranodon and Parasaur do have this multiplier on the head, but for example, Managarmr, T-Rex and Spino don't. On these, you can shoot whereever you want to

it's great and all, but i still prefer to keep the gates on my hotbar and then freeze them with an owl. You can still place the gates while you're frozen, plus you're not on foot waiting for something to come out of nowhere and take you out.

I used s+ metal gates and it can fit thru, it wasnt stuck at all. Im on 10x modded tho so ill just put doors on it. resources are no issue. thanks for the tip tho I would have never used a net for anything

I don't have genesis = net gun, so i've just spammed 5 gates at it while he's whacking my face, sometimes he get's free from it. Net gun would definitely make it easier!

It's a DLC item from the genesis 2 DLC. Unless you transfered your character from gen2 with the engram you can't make it

Good video but at the same time you’re making it take longer than you need to. Just stand somewhere and when it lands you place the gates over it. Theres no need for that extra shit. I’ve done it on foot quite a few times and only died like once or twice but I respawned at the sleeping bag I placed right next to it.

If using shocking tranq darts with a high dmg long neck I find you can tranq it out before net breaks

Have you ever tried making the higher-quality tranq darts the shocking tranq darts just take tranq darts in toxin you can get from the jellyfish I believe that it doesn't most ranking per shot cuz I can take out a giga with 10 hits
