Update to everyone. I went and took my skills test today on my Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX. It was this exact same instructor and the course was exactly as it is laid out in this video. All I did were the two figure eights, weaved in and out of the cones twice, and made a left turn and a right turn with blinkers and was done in about 60 seconds, tops. The instructor was absolutely fantastic although the Individual behind the desk inside was just the polar opposite as he was very disingenuous and condescending towards me. Can’t quite figure out why. He literally shushed me when I started talking to him. I thought really… I’m not a five year-old and was just trying to make conversation. Regardless, other than getting the written test done and subsequently not being allowed to legally ride my motorcycle on public roads until I could take the skills test, I was left with the impression that the State makes you really work for this endorsement. Regardless, the instructor that I had for the skills test today made it a very pleasant experience. Finally have my M endorsement!!

If you think THIS is working for your endorsement, come to Australia and look at the bullshit we have to deal with just get our L plates so that we can get our P plates so that we can get our open licence.

For those asking about test in Lowell, just finished it. It was about the equivalent of ride around the parking lot and come back. We had to slalom between cones across the parking lot, using turn signals every time passing a cone left and then right. Turn around at the end, accelerate and come to a complete stop back where we started. I was expecting more skills tests but the instructor said put the bike up and wait for paperwork. Way simpler and easier than the above video. Felt more like a formality.

Hey I have a question, they told me after I passed my written test that I still can't drive my bike on the public road so how am I go to Lowell (to take the test) if i can't drive my bike legally? Haul it? Ask friend that have bike?

Most people just hauled it. It's a pain, but they threaten a ticket if you ride it to your test. Or yes, have a friend with a motorcycle license drive it there.

UPDATE - 10/7/22 The video is basically exact ! 2 figure 8’s (you can swing as wide as you need to), you do have to use blinkers on the turns at end with 3 cones. I had a female admin the test. It’s an automatic fail if you stall or put a foot down. They ONLY give the motorcycle skills test at the State Police HQ. However, the web site will allow you to schedule different places. They called me the night before and said, sorry, we only do motorcycle skills at HQ in LR. Their web site SUCKS ! ALSO, YOU MUST have someone ride your bike up there that has a "M" endorsement and THEY WILL CHECK THIS ! Or, you can trailer it up there. They NO LONGER give you a permit to ride on the streets when you pass the written. They said you must only practice on private properties. You would not believe the amount of trouble I had to go through to get my endorsement. They have made it VERY DIFFICULT to get your endorsement in my opinion.

Just did my test today! Same dude administered the test! Like others have said, two Figure Eights, Slalom, Left Blinker -Left turn, slalom the second set of cones, Right Blinker, Right turn, full speed-get on the brakes. Thats it! Foot down = Fail / Fall = Fail. Thanks for the video, helped me prepare alot!

I took my skills test at the Carmichael Center in searcy about a month or two ago. Just did a lap around in the parking lot no cones or weaving and I was done! Instructor was super chill.

Alright!! I did my test and passed. It seems to be different whoever you go to to have it done. I went to Trumann ARK. No cones. No lines. She had me make two squares, one right hand, one counter clockwise. Stop at all corners and a figure 8. Took less than a minute and a half. This was 10/18/22.

Update (7/29/22): 2 figure 8’s (you can swing as wide as you need to so its super easy), you do have to use blinkers on the turns and the same guy administered the test. It’s an automatic fail if you stall or put a foot down. I can’t speak for the other locations around the state but my advice would be to schedule your test at Arkansas State Police in LR. Took 2 minutes and it was exactly what you see in the video. Took my test on my zx6r.

So I was told that you have to a written exam, then schedule the road skills test, and you cannot ride your motorcycle to the exam, you have to trailer it in, or have a licensed rider ride it for you, is that still true? If so it is so it is very inconvenient as I do not own a $2k plus trailer lol

@@chr00bs You do have to pass the written exam first and yes they told me the exact same thing. So luckily for me I had a friend who already has their motorcycle endorsement take my bike to the tesing site. Then we get there and they didn’t check any id’s or ask how I got my bike there. That was just my experience, maybe because I had someone with me they just didn’t bother asking..who knows.

I hate the way the instructor explains it like "hey man, just go down to the cones and come back. That's all you got to do. It's real easy" like no man. I need specific instructions. Especially when one slip up can have you fail the test

They did it worse than with you. she told me to go down and hang a right while motioning to the left with her hand. I asked again you mean left? And she kept saying right while motioning to the left lol I finally got through to her. I passed on the first go. :D Took the test on my new DR650

UPDATE - 2/10/23 Exact same setup. I got to skip the weaving cones because they got messed up by some semi’s doing CDL tests. I only had to make one lap and come to a stop. Super easy!

UPDATE: 04/06/2023, tested at LR State Police HQ. Test was very similar. Full figure 8, weave through far set of cones. Left turn with blinker. Come back and weave through other set of cones. Right turn with blinker. Accelerate to about 30mph, hard stop. Cones are probably 20 feet apart during the weave. Very simple. They did not check credentials of the person who rode the bike to the location for me.

Wow that seems pretty easy. You did that great but I wonder how many people who barely pass it are out on the road? Most states have a much more intensive on cycle test. I think I will go take the class to get some additional training, or maybe just to do something more challenging.

I had almost a year of on-road experience, and about 2 years of off-road experience when I took this test. I was use to slow speed maneuvering and overall control of the motorcycle, but I can imagine it might be more difficult for people who are just starting out. I would always recommend taking a class on motorcycle safety etc. I appreciate the comment!

@@adrianesay3080 Got both knocked out! thanks again for your vid. Took drivers test last Friday south of Harrison. Troop I. They were painting the course. Had cones set up to the right. One right turn, left turn, 1 fig. 8 and 10' to stop and done. Took longer to unload my bike. Oh well. Legal now.

Same here. I got my first permit when they still allowed you to drive on the roads with them. It sucks seeing it change. I waited too long to take my skills test, but I'm working on it now.

Update 3/30/2023: I just took my riding test in Newport, AR. It couldn't have been easier. The guy had me circle the parking lot and ride the bike back onto the trailer I brought it on. It took all of 45 seconds.

@@adrianesay3080 I took it yesterday. Same dude gave me the test. Super cool.i mentioned that I had seen him on here, and he put me to the front of the line. Lol. Hit some gravel down the second slalom, and almost lost the front tire and put a foot down. I've been riding for thirty freakin' years. 😂 I rolled onto the throttle a little, though, and got myself out of it. That test is not designed for my 1000cc sport bike. Haha! Especially not when it's wet and rainy out, so you can't get a lot of lean. I passed, though. 🤘🏻

3/21/2024 Slalom between one row of cones, blinker on the direction around the cone, return and shift one gear. Almost insulting considering the time investment to show up at 11am on a work day.

The test is made up of a few questions pick from a large pool. You might get harder questions one time and easier ones another time. It's kinda luck of the draw, so I would just read through the motorcycle operator manual a few times. It has everything you might get questioned on in the test. Yes, there is a written test to get a permit, then after 30 days (I think) you are allowed to take the skills test to get your license.

I took my test 12 years ago, passed the written and skills, and when I went to get the M endorsement on my license, they just renewed my license, even though I had renewed it the day before to take the tests. I have a receipt from twelve year ago where they charged me to put the M on my license, but never did. I've been riding a bike this entire time not knowing I didn't have a license. The skills test then was literally go across the hwy, and do a figure 8 in the parking lot of the ball fields in Sheridan. I've got my written test scheduled for 8/23, and the skills for 8/24. It's ridiculous to have to do it again. I've been riding my whole life. It is what it is, though. They made MC laws all kinds of crazy here. Hoping my skills test doesn't get rained out now. 😫

I took my test today and failed because I did not have a good instructor. She did not tell me to come out of the last set for the right turn and go as fast as I can and then stop did not instruct me to stop or go at the end of the cones told me that I need to do at least 50 miles an hour when I came out of the turn I slid for 25 feet I had control of the bike, but she failed me after my second attempt, and did not correct me or tell me that I did not have to stop at the end of the cones

Important note here: while it's highly recommended to take a MSF course (harley davidson little rock) a plus is if you take the msf course and complete it- you do not have to take the skill road test, all you have to take is the written exam at your DMV, your welcome (:

From a lot of the comments saying there is a little variation between everyone's test. I would say its mostly up to the officer giving the test.
