I like your videos. It has helped to really see the communities. I have not seen any focus on the homes on the rivers at wright ark near the lock and dam number 5. Earl Chadick rd in Wright is closed back there due to the floods.

Lived in Little Rock for 60+ years and I have only seen it this bad once. Never seen those round barriers by the bridge piers go under. Seen Burns Park flood all the way out to I-40 over around I-430 where that big church is. There a park on top of the hill in Levy we used to go to where you can see way up the river, You had to park and walk down the path but we had a good view of Murray Dam, what was sticking out of the water, Power plant was totally under back then. I think this is the highest I have seen it since they built the locks and dams. I hope the Surgical Hospital weathered the flood, its there where you were driving nears Cooks Landing Park.

thats exactly why you dont build in a flood plane
@stephenhunter705 жыл бұрын
And when you do, you build so that the ground floor bearers of the house is higher than the highest recorded flood level.
@nlo1145 жыл бұрын
I live on the boundary of a flood-plain. The old maps say 'liable to flooding, not suitable for building', etc. The soil is very fertile because it was laid there by the river in flood, maybe 200, maybe 500 years ago. The water has filled my yard once in 40 years I've been there; a dozen times in the new development down the road. They were warned, they built, they got flooded. The insurance paid out, my premiums went up.

So, what was that about global warming?! Let's get wise folks.

People are finding out why our ancestors didn’t build in certain areas. This is going to happen a lot with the GSM and insurance is going to stop paying in some of these areas.

@ 1:16 you say the water depth is up to your doors, but you can tell where the curb height and fire hydrant are... Are you running a c-notched bagged suburban? No need to exaggerate, we get that it is bad, but those streets themselves look like Beaumont after an average rain. I lived in SE Texas for years including Rita, Ike, and Harvey.
@pureheartshomestead17425 жыл бұрын
DRDEE no I was not exaggerating, if you will notice the fire hydrant was up on the bank above the curb, and the curbs are well below the water. I have no need to exaggerate anything

What caused it to flood?? Was this from that huge storm couple days ago? Crazy
@pureheartshomestead17425 жыл бұрын
This was in late May and early June and it was caused by the excessive rain in May up river and Lake Keystone in Oklahoma released a lot of water that added to the already high water.

so this area willow beach, are those homes built on the "wrong side" of a possible levee? If so, why would someone do that?

@laalaag2auntyayag7765 жыл бұрын
This flood is a historic one- areas that have NEVER been flooded are under water. There was no way to know "What they were getting into" unless they were clairvoyant
@tubedude545 жыл бұрын
Never say 'never'! Just because there are no records of it doesn't mean it hasn't flooded in the past. And yes... you can go to the FEMA web page and get what are called 'firmettes' which show you flood hazard areas all over the United States... a SMART thing to do if you are buying a home or just property for future development! I guess FEMA and the USGS have a crystal ball after all!

Notice there's flooding in many states, and to a degree that they are greater than past floods. Every time it rains here in p.a. it happens after the jets turn the skies milky white. They make it rain 2 days, than 4 days, then they lay off for a week, and have a mini rain, then come back next week and extend it for 2 weeks rain, than in a matter of time we're going to get flooded, but I can't tell anyone to get away from waterways. Watch the jets in the skies that's where your rains comming from.
