amazing video once again, and I LOVE the bird sounds in the background. From what i can tell from the background the spaces you live and work in are beautiful, well planned, and embedded in nature.

Thank you so much! That is what I've been trying to do since 2009. Make a garden that is basically a forest, diverse and colorful and blend in with the mountain above. Enjoy the birds while it is still warm here. In 2 to 3 weeks they will become discreet! Cheers!

Thank you Fotis for this video 🙏 I am pleased you decided to show a deciduous tree, it was about time! Beautiful tree, great potential! I love the new (potential) leader, very interesting line 👌. Both options for developing the top of the tree look good, but I think I prefer version 2. Fingers crossed for this air layer 🤞. If it makes it, it has the potential to become a beautiful double trunk tree.

Thank you Martijn! I lean towards 2 myself so that's nice to read! The next step is in spring and it is important. This tree has gotten to the point when pinching new growth in early spring is is absolutely necessary and of course it will be documented here! Cheers!

Great video... I experience that problem with air layers not producing adequate roots, and sometimes the layer survives, other times it doesn't.... I liked the animation showing the choices in styles, as well as that pot.....I love the colour 🎉🎉🎉🎉
@ArkefthosBonsai3 ай бұрын
Thank you! In my experience, the more leaves on the air layer, the more roots you get. Though this one should get quite more. It is a nice pot, but I have another one on order, way more impressive! Good morning!

Paciencia de bonsaísta, solo así se logran buenos materiales como ese arce. Espero ansioso el video del cedro, para mí, también es tu mejor árbol. Nunca tuve un cedro, tal vez vaya siendo hora de tener uno. Salud ! 🙇♂️

Very nice. These maples take a long time to develop, but it's also very interesting to develop them because they give you lots of unexpected options. I think option 2 is much better in this case but I know it's hard to let go of plans sometimes. So just take your time with the decision.
@ArkefthosBonsai3 ай бұрын
Perfectly said! Plans are with you for a year or more and they are hard to change, but I'm glad I decided to keep the second trunk as it seems that most people like the 2nd option best, including myself. Thank you!

Hello, at looking at this air layer. It looked like the covering plastic wasn.t completely seal air tight. How did you keep the spag mos moist. thru the process? Explain your process step by step Please.
@ArkefthosBonsai3 ай бұрын
Of course! I've found out that the best technique for air layer, is the one Japanese use and that's with open bag at the top. Of course that works when you are able to water the air layer regularly and that is the case here as this air layer is done onto a potted prebonsai tree, that I water every day in the summer anyway. If you air layer a planted tree in the garden or in the forest, you will need to close the bag air tight, to hold the moisture in between waterings. The process of drying and watering daily with the open bug is what drives the roots to grow fast. Now if you ask me then why did this air layer kinda failed, I will say I probably did a poor job in making a clean cut because I had a very small, tight working space trying not to damage the buds around it. Cheers!

2 for me, much more interesting movement in my opinion. Having another zig-zag change in direction always helps compact the tree while still adding some movement to the trunk.

I am going to start a project like this on JM crippsii next year, softwood cutting to maintain genetics though.
@ArkefthosBonsai3 ай бұрын
Cripsii looks like a cultivar with beautiful foliage, it's a good choice! If you plan to plant in the ground for a few years, just make sure you monitor the sacrificial branches. It got away from me and now I'm dealing with 2 large wounds. Good luck!
