Leupold still has the edge on resolution and definition, with a brighter image, US built still means something to me, keep the dough at home.

Most of their materials are sourced outside the US but they are manufactured or put together here. Definitely don’t disagree with the buy US made statement. I would like to see an optics company do what Origen clothing is doing

My prediction is that instead of other companies dropping their prices, Arken will double theirs over the next couple years.

The ep5 is quite good what you get for the money when you look through 1000 dollar scopes and up it pretty clear it not in that range but under 500 it definitely a beast

Good review. I have this scope on my rifle (6.5 creed) and the things you point out are exactly what I have experienced with mine. I shot out to 1190 yards at an 18 inch by 12 inch target with it and it worked great. I have also hunted in low light with it.

I definitely think it’s worth the risk to give Arken a shot. Worst case scenario you could return it if you felt it was not as good. But I would be surprised if that was the case

The big difference between the two to me is Leupold is well known for their tracking issues.. I had a MK5 HD leupold with PRS1 reticle out of the box and it wouldn't track.. I've never had an issue with an Arken...

Very good review. I love my Arken 6-24. I have Vortex Strike Eagle 6-24 and Vector continental 40x. My Arken it is the best for the price, very good for long range. I see impact at 411 yards, wow.

I'm not going to argue that Arken offers a fantastic value compared to an MSRP Leupold. But i think this comparison is missing that these are two very different scopes in that the arken only has to perform optically across a 4x range, whereas the Leupold has a 6X range and is 2 oz lighter weight. The field of view at the 3X low end on the leupold is way more than the 4X Arken, while the high end still delivers more magnification. It really would have been interesting to capture a comparison where the leupold was set for approximately 4x and approximately 16x, where it isn't being judged at one of the extreme limits of is optical range. The issue here is the 80/20 rule: you get 80% of the performance for 20% of the cost whereas that last 20% of performance costs 80% more. I think in leupold's case the "brand name" premium is about 20% the rest of the huge cost difference in that last "20%" wider zoom range and minimizing weight. Leupold doesn't really have a 4x line to make a direct comparison here. A Vx5 4-20 or Vx5 3-15, or Vx3 4.5--14x40 could be other "reasonable" leupold scopes for comparison where where the relative price is much less exaggerated and the scope weight is even lower. An interesting comparison would be the Arken EPL vs a vortex Viper HD, which is still $1000 msrp, and ---like the vx6 ---it is lighter weight than the arken with wider low end field of view. Since it is a 5x vs a 4x, it is a little bit closer of a performance comparison.

These are 40oz scopes so they aren’t hunting scopes so who cares about low light? That’s like complaining a mini van doesn’t do well in the 1/4 mile.

@@mrjeffjob no the vx6 is 21 oz and the epl is 24 oz. The vx6 is the very definition of a hunting scope.

U need to compare the same strengths of power to each other so u can really compare them at the same settings. It isn’t fair to compare them at different powers.

The Arken has a sharper and better image than the leupold. At maximum magnification the Arken is also clearer than the VX-6 which has a bit of a hazy or milky image. I have an EP5 on order. I was about to spend over 2000.00 US on a Nightforce. Then I saw the direct comparison, similar to this, and it was game over.

Lol, i don't hunt, but i do compete in NRL22 . What's your point in asking that question? Are hunters the only people that can review scopes ? I can guarantee you the hunters i know, know a 1/4 of what ive learned in the past few years from competition. Do better quit being a turd.
