Herein I open a great looking Starter Set and then become baffled. Enjoy.

Great unboxing. This looks like a pretty legit starter set. It looks like the rules are built into the adventure book. I felt it in my soul though when you tore open those dice boxes.

@@MichaelChadd there are no rules in the set. Would you have kept the boxes for the dice??

@@GM_AdmirAl From what i saw in another review there were some dice pool rules on page 10 so maybe its in the beginning and part of the GM screen too. Yep on the boxes. Something about tearing stuff that some with it would rub my goblin brain wrong. I always try to keep my sets pretty intact if I can and I always carry a Gerber EAB everywhere I go.

It has been years since I’ve looked at my copies, but I think the FFG Star Wars RPG starter sets included the rules as a play-along in the adventure. So when a mechanic would appear in the story, it would tell the GM how to run it. Could that be the case here? I have a lot more to say but I’m cooking breakfast right now so I’ll be back

@@TheFinalFrontiersmen they absolutely do. I used them for the one shots I ran.

@@GM_AdmirAl this set doesn’t do something similar? Maybe it’s not as obvious as the Star Wars booklets but hopefully they give direction for the GM as the adventure proceeds?

@thefinalfrontiersmen it doesn't. Even on their product page they say there's no rulebook. Wish I'd seen that before I bought it.

@ dang. That really is a huge mistake. Not that I’ve played countless games, but this is the first time I’ve heard of a “starter set” that doesn’t give you what you need to start. Truly truly truly unfortunate, as the contents of the box look spectacular otherwise. And it lowers my confidence that the rest of the game will be handled properly and with the consumer in mind.
