Putting guard dog into play should of triggered an attack of opportunity since when engaged you can only fight, evade, resign, parley

26:13 - The Switchblade is fast. Therefore it doesn't cost an action to play. Also - if it wasn't fast, you cannot just play a card if you are engaged with an enemy - it would get an attack of opportunity.

It will cost an action and a resource to bring Switchblade into play, which causes an AoO as Wendy is engaged. However when it would already have been in play it would not cost an action to play, as it a fast card, neither would it cause an AoO as it is an fight-action...please correct me if I'm wrong, but that would be my reading of the rules...only played the game twice and lost both games, so that's why going over some walkthroughs for strategic inspiration :)

@@thehank5368 As I mentioned. Switchblade is a Fast card. That means it does not cost an action to play. Therefore, playing it does not provoke an Attack of Opportunity. Attacks of Opportunity only occur when you perform a non-fight, non-evade, non-parley, non-resign action when engaged with an enemy. For example: playing a knife when engaged, you will suffer an AoO

@@GamingRulesVideos Thnx for the swift reply. Checked the rules reference once more (p.17 top left) and I guess you are right. My understanding was that bringing an asset with the "fast" ability into play would cost an action (and the resources depicted on the card) and once it is in play using it's ability will not cost an action as long as it stays in play, i.e. a longer term advantage. However, only bringing a fast card into play is a short term advantage as it doesn't cost an action to do so (and hence will not cause an AoO; p.12 top left), but to use it's ability will still cost an action.... hmmm, I migth be able now to win my next game ;-P Anyway: thnx for the playthrough!

Hey thanks so much for the feedback! Sorry for the delay in response too! So for this setup, I have an overhead camera that is a Canon Vixia HFR80. If you are interested in the settings I use on that, let me know. I also use (although not in this video) another Canon, but it's a Vixia HFR800. I'll sometimes use my Nikon DSLR as well. However for this one, it's just the Canon with an overhead mount, and I have 2 Neewer NL480's on either top corner of the gaming table, and my overhead lights are 4 LED Daylight bulbs. I'll sometimes use a Neewer Circle light if shooting people, but that wasn't in this video. Thanks again man, for you to ask me about setup is a huge compliment. :D

Love the video. Just wanted to point out you didn't need to discard beat cop. You exhaust beat cop, give him one damage, and you deal 1 automatic damage to an engaged enemy. Beat cop only had one damage on him so you would've been able to get one more damage out of him.

Great playthrough. I think there was an error though. For the very first game turn, you had Wendy put her flashlight in play, then she searched 3 times. That's 4 actions, not three.

Hey thanks. You are absolutely correct. How did I miss that!? I guess after playing the flashlight I kept saying "Now for Wendy's first action", so I believed my own lies. I must have been going mad. Thanks for the heads up on that!

@@GeekCityUSA Also, your skills values can't go below 0, so a -4 on an investigación test with Wendy will tie on a 0 shroud location, passing the test.

Mulligan rules. Not quite right. You do get 1 mulligan, but it is a selective mulligan. Just lose the cards you don't want to keep.

Hey thanks so much! So I have a few different cameras that I use, but my usual overhead camera is a Canon Vixia HFR80 (occasionally I'll throw on a wide angle lens for larger games). I have it connected to an Alzo horizontal camera mount which is connected to a stand that used to hold one of my old studio lights. I found that the Vixias are light enough to be supported without needing to worry about tipping or falling over. It's much more convenient for overhead shots than my DSLR. :D

Hi, great job on the video! One question regarding when you got the baseball bat (around the 1 hour 5 min mark). I am pretty sure since your first action was purchasing a card and not actual fighting, then the Ghoul has an Attack of Opportunity and deals damage to Wendy. Then your second action of actual fighting takes place as you did it. If the bat has the "Fast" quality then I don't believe the AoO takes place. I may be wrong, but I thought I had seen others comment similarly on other forums.

Oh yea! You are absolutely correct!! Anything other than a Fight, Evade, Parley, or Resign would indeed trigger an attack of opportunity! Great catch. I definitely have a few things to watch out for when I film part 2! I’m so glad you pointed that out, and thanks for the feedback! Cheers!

I am then going to take my current investigators (Skids and Daisy) and do a couple of fan-created scenarios just because I want to continue with these folks for a couple of more plays. Loved the playthrough, but I think at the 2 hr mark when you first were engaged with the ghoul priest, wouldn't drawing cards incur attacks from the ghoul priest?
