Arklow Rainbow Arriving Sharpness

The Irish registered coaster, ARKLOW RAINBOW, is first seen bound for Sharpness in the River Severn. As the ship approaches Sharpness the pilot swings her 180 degrees to stem the incoming tide. The tide is so strong that as the ship is broadside to it she is swept upstream. Built in 2005 the ARKLOW RAINBOW is loaded with a cargo of cement from Santander in Spain.

Liking your channel very much having only just recently discovering it. I wonder if you can tell me why many of these coasters look ' funny' with what appears to be a large part of the side of the main hull missing? I have wondered why for a while, I guess the holds are extremely well sealed but they look very exposed. Is it a weight saving or operational reason ?? I remember some of the Rix boats ( Robrix being one I think ) calling at the local Dean Quarry on the Lizard Peninsula for road stone many years ago.

Great to hear an accurate commentary, someone that understands the filming. So often we watch these videos and are disappointed by lamentable knowledge when we know more than we are given as commentary. We don't need wads of information but accurate wording.
