Of course Hoederer wrote it 😂 The funniest thing to me is that Wis’adel really isn’t that much younger than Hoederer and Ines. I love calling them merc x family, but in reality Wis is probably around her late 20’s while Hoederer and Ines are in their early 30’s… still Hoederer, really… you should have expected this outcome. But at least she can kinda read now, at least you could teach her that. I do love their dynamic, Hoederer being a tired mentor and Ines being Wis’s frenemy. My favourite slightly unstable, yet loving arknights squad.

@ honestly, I totally get that. I wanted to calculate Hoederer and Ines’s ages (they are my faves) and I misremembered W having a sprite from when she was a teen, which she really doesn’t. So I wanted to look into that too. Darknights also describes her as a ‘Sarkaz woman’ and not a child or teen, though it is clear that she is pretty young at the time. The only instance where she is called a ‘kid’ is in her files by a Sarkaz boiler worker, but that can also refer to her child-like admiration of Theresa and the fact she has had pretty much no education (besides what Hoederer has attempted to teach her). But let’s be generous and say she is between the ages of 15 and 19 when she meets Hoederer and Ines, still a teen but nearing adulthood. The present date (when she joins as operator) is 10/11 years after she meets them (10 for W, 11 for Wis’adel), making Wis’adel 26 at the youngest (assuming she was 15 at the time, which I personally doubt, I’d think she is about 1 or 2 years older). Of course, there is the possibility that the translation is wrong, but with what we have this is the only conclusion I can draw. As for Hoederer and Ines, they were pretty much veterans at that point. When they met W, Hoederer had about 11 years of experience and Ines 9. They just became mercs really young, which can explain why they appear a bit older (especially Hoederer, that poor guy). For contrast, W had 1 year of experience before she joined them. I’d clock Hoederer and Ines around 33 years old in the present, taking in account their combat experience years, Hoederer’s files (the one with his diary), Ines’s dynamic skin (you can see the shadows of them as teens and they look pretty young) and just general assumptions about biology and growth spurts. If anything it’s shocking they weren’t older when they met W (being around 21 - 23), though I can believe it since they had a hard life and were forced to become adults quicker than usual. (Also keep in mind that when they met, Hoederer wasn’t the captain of the team; old W was. When W died and Wis’adel got his name, Hoederer presumably became the leader, meaning he only took a leaderships position after he met W/Wis’adel and just was a regular merc before that.) Oh, and the fact they use the same sprite before and after the 10 year time skip in Darknights, so unless they wanted to draw attention to it, we just have to assume that Hoederer, Ines and W didn’t change over those 10 years, appearance wise. It makes sense they look older in that regard, since the art had to reflect their present day appearance too. Sorry for this entire analysis, I swear this are the only operators I’ve done this for O-O” still doesn’t change the fact that Wis’adel has been adopted by those two, just more as a younger merc they took under their wing than an actual daughter c’:

She is basically a “new hope” for her people, a kind of heir to the ideals of the person in whom she herself once saw hope.
