I don't hate Genshin, I love Xiao and Hu Tao's designs a lot in particular, but you can't tell me GI has better character design than AK. AK's aesthetic just beats literally any other gacha out there. It's consistent, unique, and tasteful. The GI pure fantasy concept is more appealing to the mainstream, but the "apocalypse techwear catgirls" is iconic. And most GI NPCs have the flavor of cardboard (can't blame 'em for it with 3D model + animation vs 1 illustration) but AK's designs are always intriguing and atmospheric. As for the vid example: sorry but Ayato is not looking slayato. He has literal fish eyes, that man has seen things. And if someone thinks Goldenglow is sexualized, they need to go outside and see how people under 25 actually dress. Tbh the only times in AK I went "damn put on more clothes" were Shamare and Mephisto, and former has a skin to make up for it

As a doktah who have played and enjoy AK since april 2020 i can confidently say that AK is one of those gacha games that is f2p friendly while also isnt a cash n grab lewdfest. The only outfit that show the skin more are the summer outfit and even then it doesnt overly on the lewd side more on fashion and breathtaking style, and also making them lookin so beautiful that you might stare at it for hours

Honestly, one of the thigns that turned me off from playing Genshin Impact is that a lot of the characters look very same-y. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but besides a few historical elements, it feels like all I see are the same suits and leotards with occasionally either a skirt or shorts. I'm sure that sounds unfair, but I don't know how exactly to put it into words, it's like they all have the same sheen? Maybe it's because they're all cel shaded 3D models, but I feel like it's especially bad for the male characters wearing pallete swaps of the same suit. Sure, you can probably point at some example that contradicts my words, but it's just a feeling I get as someone not really familiart with the game - the charactrer designs don't really spark interest. I think, it's the silhouettes that are all very same-ish. Some suit details there are different, but it's pretty much the same shape to an untrained eye. Give one of those 3 or 4 suit boys a hat and you'd elevate that design by a lot. Since AK is a sprite based bame, comparing models isn't fair, but speaking of pure art and design, it really stands out by it's theme. Genshin is another mix of anime and fantasy, while AK is a mix of anime and modern private military company. By the power of anime the costumes and designs don't have to be fully practical, but even the more "professional" outfits like the 2 stars manage to be striking - I'm quite a fan of the Noir Corne design, it looks both like something a security specialist would wear and have some personality while beign different from other characters.

I don't really see that as an actual argument. Like first off, fashion is subjective. Second, the setting of the 2 worlds are literally nearly the opposite of eachother, Third, the design of Genshin characters are focused on their own backstory and culture IRL, while Arknight do focus on those too, it mainly focus on the character relationship with Terra and other characters. Lastly, I would like to assume the person that comparing Arknight character to Genshin doesn't play Arknight because the literally few first characters that you meet wear either normal clothes, body armour or tactical gears. Even Goldenglow design isn't sexualised, her outfit doesn't even show that much skin only her legs and her face, that's it.

I'd say the designs from both games are pretty good, they're both catered towards their specific world/settings, Genshin being set in a fantasy world, while Arknights being set in a dystopian world. But the one thing I don't really like about Genshin's designs are the designs for some of the female characters like Ganyu, Shenhe, Yelan, I often "think why are they dressed like that??"
