Arknights: Endfield F2P vs WHALES

I don't know why I haven't seen anyone mention it but, you can buy dupes from the shop. For standard characters this will be limited to one copy. But unlike other games you can buy the character even if you dont pull for them. Like in wuwa you can only buy dupe if you already have that character but here you can do that even if you don't have the character. This was same in Arknights where there would be atleast 1 character available to purchase. And During limited banners you can buy the character as many times you want based on how many pulls you did. It was 300 pulls for 1 copy in original AK. So if they do the limited banner in Endfield then you will most prbably be able to purchase dupes from shop for every 120 pulls(probably). This essentially removes the fear of rolling infinitely and not getting max pot character.

Whales continue to whale on Arknights, 5 years after launch. Dupes aren't important at all in Arknights, yet whales continue to blow massive wads of cash on them. They complain about it, but they don't stop doing it. Endfield attracts whales from another side of the gacha market, but the OG AK whales will still drop millions on the game long after the tourists leave.

Tbh i dont see a problem. Whales will whale, no matter what. Its a question of self-control. Pulls will provide golden certs anyway to buy chars\dupes from the store. It is a gacha after all, we all play anime casino and can see the rates.

The problem is if whales jump ship. They're the ones who fund the game.

@@hottestgremlin it's never a money issue with this kind of developers, look at Mika team who gained almost a million in a month in the past with their 3 gacha games and they have 1 full fleged game, if it was any other ip leeching company they would already called EoS and never existed again HG also was made by people from Mika team, so they have something in common in terms of how to make a game with passion for telling story, not making money

It's not even a whale problem It's a problem for people who prefer to go after dupes of their favorite characters instead of constantly pulling for even more characters This system prevents us from playing that way I'm not a whale, but I was willing to become a medium spender for this game However, I have no reasons to do so if I no longer want to go for dupes cause of their inaccessibility

Right, and medium spenders shouldn't have any problem playing that way. I'm worried about the people who are used to spending multiple hundreds of dollars a month or the equivalent. Those are the people who want to max their characters. If those people are discouraged from spending and/or playing the game the way they want, they could drop the game. It also looks like there could be important break points locked behind duplicate copies of characters. That in itself encourages pulling for dupes, and with a system like this, could make it frustrating for whales to stick with.
