It makes sense. While not directly hinted at it, its most likely that the Doctor and every other ancestor is a Human (and possibly from earth. How that works with the rainbow six siege colab is up for debate. Could even be an alternative earth who knows) to begin with and who knows how much old tech/schematics etc were left behind for the animals of terra to use under the guidance of Kal'tsit and the such.
