I've converted two carts to solar. One has an inverter and the other just has a charge controller. Neither ever needs charging, they're used daily. I used a smaller inverter (3000w). One still has the lead acid batteries, the other was upgraded to LiFePo. Always get stopped and asked about them when we're running around town. I've used the inverter to charge batteries, run concrete mixer, run miter saw, etc. Incredibly handy to be able to drive power right where you need it.

My biggest concern for mounting the inverter/powerbank above you, is that any golfcart i have ever been in has been very eager to tip over, and i would not want something that heavy over my head helping to convince it. Also , i cannot imagine those roof supports are all that strong, considering how it was designed

If more batteries could be installed in the back in a diy lightweight box, you could use it to supplement a small home or workshop with power. Batteries would need to be lithium to minimize weight and maximize efficiency. Great idea you gave us.

Nice work and descriptions. Years ago I built a small 12 volt system with 300 watts of panels and 3 AGM 200 AH batteries for running 12 volt lights and a 12 volt TV. I rigged a set of jumper cables through the wall. When there was an issue with solar charging. I could charge up the batteries with my truck. At least once I reversed this and jumped the truck from the house. I say this because you could put a splitter on the cables at the off grid cabin. Put a switch in for Off/On and run it to another 48v charge controller. Make the leads long enough to reach the golf cart. You can also add a 12volt charger for other batteries.

Id mount the new unit long ways not side to side in the middle between the heads of the driver and front passenger. also a accessory trailer with another solar panel and more batteries might be handy if you ever run out juice.

Way better since i got a litime 230 ah cold protection lipo battery. All 12v of course. 100ft retractable extension cord off the back was the best game change I guess i need to buy a golf cart.

We are looking at a bidirectional charging system that will let our Nissan Leaf power the house during a power failure. We only use 10 to15 KWs a day in the house now, so the car could power it for up to 4 days. Now thats one big solar generator.

I think they're legal on rural roads in Canada and Farm-to-Market roads (i.e., FM 1960, or whatever), in the U.S., Arnold. However, famous folk have been arrested for drunk driving in golf carts in California and Florida, I think. So don't buy the beverage cart from a golf ⛳ course! Crystal in Edmonton 🇨🇦

These panels are 30 bucks in Australia, you can get rid of old heavy lead acid batteries and use 48v 100 lithium battery that will be less heavy and you will have plenary of space for your inverter, I an using 48v inverter charger with solar input so all in one.

Going through the same right now. Just swapped in a lipo battery. Gensun may not work for me as my panels are 450watts.
@fgregerfeaxcwfeffece3 ай бұрын
The batteries aren't even the most expensive part anymore most of the time. With Sodium Ion coming LifePo dropped massively in price again recently. the kw/h of stack able modules is now below 200$. The first shops even started listing sodium batteries. Crazy how cheap that stuff got within the last 10 years.

There's no way that one solar panel is actually providing 4000 watts ...
@ArkopiaYouTube3 ай бұрын
What’s 340watts x 12 hours?
@3nertia3 ай бұрын
@@ArkopiaKZbin Is that solar panel actually producing 340 watts? I imagine those deep cycle batteries are how you run tools and and shit, not the solar panel lol. Neat setup but if you run tools long enough, I doubt the solar panel will recharge them on its own unless you go at least a few days without using it?
@waynemanning32623 ай бұрын
What is the average watts actually produced per day at your location? You don’t get 12 peak solar hours per day. It is a cool installation especially being able to run some power tools! But is the cost of the installation, if you paid retail ever going to pay off versus overnight charging off the grid, just curious!

Inverter has fan… but does it care if it’s upside down? A lot electronic designs work right side up or on a side, but heat management assumes it’s not upside down.
@ArkopiaYouTube3 ай бұрын
If you have a 1500 watt saw, you can run it for hours, not turning it off (which doesn’t happen). For my use, the battery is almost always completely charged. Like I said I’m the video, if you’re doing 36 holes of golf every day, don’t expect it to keep up.
