My favorite Arlene Francis comment came after the panel correctly identified a lighthouse keeper. Arlene asked “Are you Married ?” Reply: NO Arlene “ Well you should find someone to do the light house keeping” The comment was so cleaver and cute that I chuckle every time I think of it.

The one thing I'll never forget about Arlene Francis was when they had one of the men who walked on the moon on and she would NOT stop asking how the "air" smelled and no matter how everyone explained there was no air and it's a vacuum it went in one of her ears and out the other and she was really annoyed they didn't "take a sniff" of the moon air.

Arlene went on to live life to 93years of age. It was a tragedy about her diamond heart necklace though. It was snatched from her when she was getting out of a taxi cab.

Easily the classiest lady in all of game show TV. Playing opposite the truly horrifying Dorothy Kilgallen all those years.
@trainliker1003 жыл бұрын
Dorothy Kilgallen wasn't all that bad. She was just a typical Manhattan elitist (as were others on the panel). It was Bennet Cerf who was the pompous one that looked down on everyone. He also founded the Famous Writers School (mail order school) that bilked people out of a lot of money. After a lot of pressure by Cerf to keep the story suppressed, Jessica Mitford finally got her article exposing it in the July 1970 issue of The Atlantic. The "Famous Writers School" went bankrupt in 1972. As one example of what Cerf was really like, Mitford asked him how many books his Random House publishing company had printed by Famous Writers School students. His answer was, "Oh, come on, you must be pulling my leg - no person of any sophistication, whose book we’d publish, would have to take a mail-order course to learn how to write." Now THAT was the horrifying person on the panel.

No Dorothy Kilgallen was NOT "truly horrifying" at all. She was one of the top American journalists of the 20th Century and was most likely murdered to stop her investigation of the JFK assassination!
