I’ve never come across a song or anything that more expresses what it’s like to live with depression, or to have to help someone who is suffering. This is utterly and inexplicably beautiful. There is hope in shared pain and this expresses that intimately. Listening on repeat and crying through the biggest smile. Thank you.

30yrs as a black male it was standard that crying is weakness. I've normalized so many things to keep composure. I've cried 3 times in my life. The 3rd has been today listening to this song. My mother and sister battle everyday with this. I try to be their anchor but at times the going gets rough for me too. So many things right after another. I hope everyone will find their greatness. I hope you'll find that everything that is does not have to be.

Lonnie's Film Works: Get yourself some therapy if you can. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a man crying, period. Like you said, it's only society that beats it into men (and other men, too) that nonsense about how men should never show any feelings whatsoever---it's just what known now as toxic masculintiy, that's all. It's not natural for anybody to constantly have to stifle their emotions all the darn time.

Lonnie's Film Works: I meant to say toxic masculinity, that is. Definitely get some help for yourself, though. Even people like yourself who are somebody's rock need to get some support for you own mental health issues, too.

Lonnie's Film Works white male. Same shit, different setting. Our humanity connects us all. Yes, get therapy, (ex senior nurse specialist in mental health) but find a good one! That’s harder than it may seem. Bad therapists exist. Look at the BAC (British Association of Counselling). It’s taken me, even with my knowledge, 5 attempts to find one. It definitely gets better, grab that fact, hold onto it tightly and never, ever let go. I have, it leads to despair and desperate acts. There is ALWAYS someone somewhere who’ll talk, here, it’s the Samaritans 116 123 . Always there, always ready to listen to anything, no matter how appalling it may seem to you, it doesn’t to them and they will never ever judge you. If you don’t feel comfortable talking, you can message and email them. Your head lies to you when the Black Dog is in control. He/she is full of dark, vitriolic lies. X

this song takes me back to a few months ago when i was desperate to commit suicide, until I saw my mums face with tears streaming from her eyes and i realised i couldn’t leave her. So i got help, started medication, and although things aren’t perfect, i’m the happiest i’ve been in months x

“It’s so cruel what the mind can do for no reason” perfectly captures it. So cruel what it does to the ones who suffer from depression, and so cruel what it does to those who love the depressed individuals and feel so powerless to help. But professional help can do amazing things if willing to accept it…I wish I’d accepted it sooner and stopped thinking I could fix it myself…just please never give up, you are not alone.

I had a big mental breakdown a couple of years ago, I was stripped of myself entirely and I'm still rebuilding my life even now. “Sometimes it seems like you won’t survive this” Of the many brilliant lyrics to this unbelievable song, this line hits hardest. It’s scary knowing that there is a very real chance that they won’t make it through the struggle. I feel so lucky to have not suffered from clinical depression, especially given that many close members of my family have. I can’t fully understand how they feel and experience it, but I can share with them the terror it inflicts.

This song - the lyrics - breaks my heart. Interestingly it makes me think to Powfu's 'Deathbed' song also in the charts. Both songs, to me, are told from two perspectives of a relationship thwarted with depression and insecurity - predominantly Powfu. Powfu describes a man who believes their relationship is over, whilst Parks' perspective talks of a female who, as Powfu says in Deathbed, prays for his health, and probes at the notion that she's aware of his dark state of mind and wishes to do whatever it takes to solve this, despite how he thinks.

this song has given me space to imagine the other side of relationships i've been in that ended while i was going thru an episode. depression wants to galvanize a narrative of abandonment without allowing me to see the love being given or the other person's pain in the matter. i really appreciate having this perspective and feel so grateful for this gorgeous song.

Amazing song and lyrics by an incredible and beautiful artist 💜 the words express beautifully exactly how it is to look after someone with depression. Having suffered myself and my daughter having her own problems it's so relatable x thank you 🙏 x

This song stopped me in my tracks. That first lyric hit my chest like a ton of bricks. Tears were streaming down my face as I pulled into my driveway. I’ve been dealing with some health issues as of late and was in a dark place just days ago and it was as if this song was written about me. I listened to the song while viewing the lyrics then went to find if you had a video. Hope to see you at the Fillmore OOO
