I actually talked with Ron about this and he said "I didn't mean it as anything offensive. It was just like a 'come on, were both tired out. Want to go grab a beer?' The people in Yoshi's corner thought it was an insult though.

I was watching Yoshi's Japanese youtube clips where he talks about focusing his training on using his wrist rather than hand control because he was always getting top-rolled by taller heavyweights with bigger hands and longer reaches. (Yoshi's only 5'8".) Mad respect.
@funkychild000 Жыл бұрын
I think he said he changed his mind during this match(I might be wrong). He was confident in his hook strength but never be able to bring most international matches into the hook game because of the reach gap, so he chose to bring them into the strap match and push his arm sideways. I don't know exact terms of that technique, though.

There aren't many cultures in the world with more all-around RESPECT than Japanese culture. Those people are some of the most respectful, honorable people in the entire world. I give them all the credit here. Ron barely escaped this match. Incredible war is an understatement.

Really?.... You mustn't have read history of the barbarities in feudal times, WW2 or the Japanese- Sino wars..... They cannibalised POWs in WW2 and brutally slaughtered and raped through 300,000 civilians in the Nanking Massacre.

Yoshi holding Ron like that, whilst Ron has pretty much the perfect position to apply full power, his side of the table, is insane. Maybe Yoshi would benefit from some centre table pronation and rise strength, almost Devon style.

8:59 Another bullshit subtitle Bullshit: In the third match, I gave it everything, I tried less back pressure and applied more side pressure, I called upon "Yamato Tamachi" and won the game. Correct: Overall, most of the strategy I had this time did not work successfully, so, perhaps, it's Yamato Damashii (the sprit of Japan), all I could do was do it mindlessly.

3:38 The English subtitle is full of bullshit lol What the English translation is saying nothing at all related to what he is actually saying! Bullshit: First match, I underestimated him a little in terms of his power Correct: Obviously, the things did not go well as I planned. Bullshit: Ron's ling fingers really troubled me. He takes very high positions. It was a big challenge for me. Correct: After the second round, I did try many thing in order to kept myself to not think negatively
