ARMA 2 Tutorial - VTOL Aircraft

I've been watching the V22 chapter, great tutorial. Indeed flying in AutoHover ON below 70 "airspeed" is very dangerous while landing in big cities, try it at home (: This is brick flying!!! I won't recommend switching in AH ON above 150 kmh because, people do know that you're going to land. Just trotlle down with nose up (no sniping) then find the good angle to enable the brick landing option xD I was expecting finding the perfect "U Turn" tricks for VSL (very scratchy landing). I often miss my shot while landing on a pad, that's a real mess, you need to take off again :S I'm trying to master that brick for pvp looting purpose but it's not easy. Mi17 are quite good better mules at low alt. Piloting V22 on Dayz of course ^^

the F-35B could do long CAS missions. it's a VTOL aircraft so it can land in any open space, it can get more ammo and fuel or even repair. So thechincly it could preform longer missions than any other aricraft in the game.

Went to an airshow in seattle, an F-35B was there, basically hovering prob 30 feet from the crowd, incredible

Copy this in the Init Field of your Aircraft this setPos [(position this) select 0, (position this) select 1, 15]; this flyInHeight 15

The Minimap is called "GPS". Look for the Key in the game settings.

Select Empty -> Air where you normally choose blufor opfor etc, if it doesn't show up select where it says player and select nonplayable, what Swiss replied with is how you get it to spawn 15m in the air and have the AI fly 15m

Sweet dude, subbed you a week or so ago and i've been waiting for another video,. Im waiting to get a new computer then im certainly buy arma but until then your vids are extreamly entertaining and very helpful to learn some of the arma 2 tactics and what not so i dont start a complete noob lol. Also quick question, would you recomend a joy stick for flying or is it just as easy with a keyboard and mouse?

god damn your landing order is killing me. call me old school, but I ALWAYS drop gear and flaps around the same time, then I engage the auto hover. "I don't always use auto-hover in VTOLS, but when I do, it's on final."

That was the TWC Server before the rebuild. Now they use VTOL almost exclusively

If I'm correct the display shows SPD in knots not km/h and ALT in feet not meters.

@TheSwissMAVERICK Does the hover mode on the fixed wing VTOLs have any use in delivering ordnance or attacking vehicles? I would think that bomb drops might be easier and more accurate

I guess you could say that. It needs some training to get use to it and i dont recommend starting with VTOL Aircraft.

How do you make turns? I flew one of them but when I turn, the speed decreases to stall speed. Do I have to press the "s" key too when I turn?

if you are talking about the osprey no thank you. They are good until the infamous #1/#2 engine actuator fail and the bird flips over on it side and everyone inside of it dies when it hits the ground. So many crashes because of that one error. Riding in one of those is scary as shit for me, but then i could just be a paranoid person.

No not the GPS. For me when I fly there is a brown box in the left top corner with altitude and speed, not fuel and the radar. And the compass on yours with the speed and altitude is not there.

You should take your own words to heart and not comment because you are the one that has no idea what you are talking about the osprey is one of the biggest advances of our us government and it was not internal engine failure one of the main reasons the osprey had so many under ratings and failures was because most pilots at the time had no idea how to fly this thing ok.
