Arma Reforger: Environment Update

Gotta be honest very few games had an immersive enough environment where I just went on hiking trips in the game, but I genuinely had moments of just walking in Arma Reforger, everything is beautiful, from the interior of the houses to the mountain sides.

I went for a hike for over an hour along the east coast, and truly jumped when some birds flew off when I opened a shack door.

The water and rain effects are incredible in Reforger. To see surfaces and clothing gradually get wet and puddles developing on the roads is truly immersive. All we need now are some working wipers in vehicles! When Reforger first came out - a couple of friends and I drove for over an hour at night in the pouring rain - frequently getting lost - stopping regularly to check the road signs and trying to navigate to a distant point on the other side of the map. That was probably the most fun I've had without shooting anyone for a long time. It proved conclusively that the journey is more important than the destination. Well except for that one guy in the back - constantly asking - 'are we there yet'.

I remember this island from back in the OFP days when I played in 2008 and was impressed by the openness of the world. Now I am impressed by its beauty. Bohemia, you are amazing to the core of my heart.

I can't help but keep thinking about dayz, even the trail markers are straight from there. I'm one of the few who treats dayz as a hiking simulator so I am definitely excited for this arma update :D

In old people homes or hospitals they sometimes have a hometrainer coupled to a television playing videos of cycling through certain cities or landscapes. Ever since A2 I've been convinced the Arma landscapes could enhance this experience.

I love the slowness of this trailer. A massive contrast from the usual, blood, guns, and glory. A lone wanderer on the road to nowhere with nothing but his rifle is a melancholically relaxing fantasy somehow.

Me and my arma buddy took a trip to Prague and actually visited one of the BI offices in 2019. But we were both quite introverted people so all we did was took a picture from the street. Czech Republic is such a beautiful place and when we took the train into the countryside and saw the real life landscape we realized how realistic the graphics look even in the old engine. I want to say thank you BI for bringing the authentic experiences no other games even could come close to, and can't wait for the next installment in Arma series!

As someone who played this day 1 on xbox. I can not wait for this to drop on playstation. The hype around this game for the first few days was insane, all the days bros, all the milsim bro, everyone was on and playing until the server issues pushed us away. I know for a fact when this drops on ps and if the servers are good enough that this will be massive. Pc players have Arma 3 so they don't care to play this but we on xbox need the playerbase and playstation is the answer 100%

This new map/game transports me back to the days of Arma 2, although it's quite a challenge to put into words. It resurrects all those intense conflicts, thrilling missions, the hum of aircraft engines, a diverse array of vehicles, highly coordinated squads, powerful artillery barrages, spine-tingling encounters with zombies, and even the serene pastime of fishing that Zeroy introduced. The nostalgia of that era was remarkable, but this new offering seems to elevate the experience to an even greater level. I eagerly await the opportunity to immerse myself in it!

Early Sparrows were introduced in the 50s, so they would fit the Cold War setting.

Reforger hits the ambience nail on the head and the atmospherics are great.... but eventually, down the line, it would be good to be able to tweak certain sounds, like making helis really loud and explosions crash more. The ability to fine tune SFX would be great.

Although this game had a rough launch, with all the server instability and game crashes, I do think it is shaping into a great Arma game. With all the mods and tools for modders, and the community to create virtually whatever they want, I hope Bohemia stays on the path they're on.

1 big issue with Arma 3 is it just feels like a Sandbox and hardly had no immersion. Im so happy and glad that the BI team saw this and made this one more immersive to give that feeling to the player that he is in a living, breathing world instead of a plain map with nothing in it. @Arma Platform: What a beautiful update, Team Arma, it really is a breath of fresh air to see this sim taking it's form. 👏👏👏 (Die-hard Battlefield 3 player here) Very recently, I stumbled across this title, and decided to give it a shot to see what is was all about. Based on less than a week of playtime, I have to say, that I am starting to feel a great sense of hope; that this will sim will be the new Battlefield 3, 2.0 for me going forward. That being said, recently, there has been word in our community that EA is going to put it to it's death someday soon sadly. This news breaks my heart deeply, as the DICE team of that day is long gone. (Battlefield 3 is greatness, and no one can convince me otherwise.) The new title, Battlefield 2042, is a smoldering chemical dumpster fire, that is actively burning the franchise into the ground; leaving us (The Battlefield 3 community, and all of it's clan members) with no place to go... Well it definitely highlights the endless walking of the game lmao. Not to say I don't like a little survival though, have ace with it. It would be cool to add things you can do while waiting around. Like draw lines in the dirt, maybe custom animations with a builder of some sort, maybe an interaction option to try ripping a teammates clothes off or gun out of their hands or something lmao. I'm patient but the people I play with aren't, and it would help keep them from getting bored and engaging the local wildlife, giving up our position.
