Hey, I’m Tim at Powder7, and I’m here with the 2019 Armada ARV 106 and 116 JJ. True to Armada’s heritage, the ARV lineup features some of the best all-mountain freestyle skis in the industry. Being a freeride-oriented skier who definitely had a terrain park phase, I love the way the ARVs balance playfulness with all-mountain performance.
The ARV 106 has serious potential as a one-ski-quiver for skiing in the west. These skis got some big updates for 2019. Ash stringers give them some extra torsional stiffness that makes them feel like much stronger skis on the mountain. The classic poplar in the core keeps the weight down and the jibby-ness and energy high. Beefier 2.2 Impact Edges make the ARV 106 more durable for sliding rails. Plus, more taper in the tips means improved powder performance. All that technology plus a super versatile freeride rocker profile means the ARV 106 can handle a wide range of conditions and terrain, from chopped up back bowls to cliff drops to pure powder.
Speaking of powder-the ARV 116 JJ is my favorite ski in the line. This year’s version features a new flex that makes the skis stronger and more reliable in dicey terrain. This means the skis could be a solid option for skiers who often find themselves exploring big-mountain terrain. They also get 3D beveling on the tips and tails, making butters easier than ever and amplifying the skis’ surf-ability. These puppies are some of the surfiest, most fun powder skis on the market.
If you’re a fun-loving skier, you should absolutely take a look at the ARV lineup, on sale this season at Powder7. Shop Armada: www.powder7.com/sale-skis/search.php?q=armada
