underrated by who? he is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest drummers

Topper could play any style, most with any knowledge would realise this, so don't fret he isn't underated

Performed for 'Concerts for the People of Kampuchea'. I remember flipping out over this version of Armagideon Time - Joe's passion, his howling, his earnestness, and the snarly "Use a Calculator!!' towards the end in response to the statement 'A lot of people won't get no supper tonight....'. The Clash ranking among the top 3 greatest influences in my life. Loved that I got to see them in concert twice. RIP Joe

Seen them in 1980 in Cardiff they were amazing, I was a mere 14 and prayed to JJ Burnel (he was God then) that I would get in to the gig. I did and never to be forgotten. This is one my fave Clash songs I used to play it over and over on parents 'record player'. It was B side to London Calling but far superior in my view.

Hearing Strummer mangle the lyrics in the first verse reminds me of how on our way to see the Clash play we used to love speculating what songs they would choose and what lyrics Joe Strummer would get badly wrong. I know I am biased when I say this but they really did live up to their reputation as one of the best ever live bands.

I loved their reggae stuff like One More Time more than their other stuff, Armagideon Time was my favourite Clash Song. The riddim is used in a lot of reggae songs. It’s called The Real Rock riddim. First version is Real Rock by Sound Dimension in 1968. The producer was the legendary Coxsone Dodd. Still owe The Clash, cause they made me listen to dub and reggae. ❤

Initially my favourite Punk band to probably my favourite band to what they evolved to. I bought this 12 inch B side to London Calling the day it was released in Small Wonder records in Hoe Street Walthamstow. For me this song is about injustice, drawing a short straw in whatever way. Earl. I just want to point out two things. (1) This is a straight up reggae song with no discernible rock and roll in it. (2) Specifically, the Clash are performing their cover of the original Armageddon Time reggae song that was first recorded by Willie William. This song was written by Wilbert Keith Williams, Jackie Mittoo and Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd. Dodd is the founder of the famous Studio One in Kingston, Jamaica, where the Wailers with Bob Marley, first auditioned.

It's not getting any better than this. Topper Headon was an excellent drummer, far beyond of any other drummer of the punk rock/new wave scene. Although Stewart Copeland, Clement Burke and Paul Cook were also brilliant. I know, Cook did a very limited amount of recordings with the Pistols, but come on, he was great. Two brits and two yanks. True talents.
