Forgotten player profiles for me is easily the coolest thing on KZbin. Way to put in the work. All these guys owe you a signed jersey.

A high school opponent and a very good friend. A great man and father. Came from a great family. Actually moved to Bethel Park from Washington DC. He was great to be around. Miss him to this day. 👑🙏🏿🏀💪🏾

I knew the Gilliam family well and knew Armen, as he would shop in the local grocery store in Bethel Park, where I worked as a high school and college student. He usually kept a low profile but was always willing to chat. When I took over a leadership role in a youth basketball organization, where I coached his nephew, I asked him to be our keynote speaker for our yearly banquet, which he gladly did. It was great for all the kids to see such a player of his caliber. Once I got to know him a little better, we happened to be at the same restaurant once and he invited me to have lunch with him. When he passed, I was shocked, but it was somewhat poetic that he passed doing what he loved.

Man o man, this guy was a problem. I didn’t follow his career, but I remember him as a player. The first time I remember him playing was a matchup between the Bulls vs. 76ers. Charles Barkley was out due to injury, but the 76ers didn’t need him. I remember taping the game on my TV/VCR and thinking to myself the 76ers are about to get blown out. Lol needless to say the Hammer brought the hammer that game
@kerry-j4m6 ай бұрын
I used to tape games on TV/VCR too.When I was stationed in Philly ( NAVY )I'd go to the Sixers home games,especially when they played the Bulls.Jordan would average 38 pts a game against the 76ers,he always put on show too.

@@kerry-j4m First off Thank you for your Service! Secondly, which 76er Team did you watch back in the day? It seems like Philly had 3 unique teams during the 80's. Philly had the early 80 team that won the chip, the middle 80 team that was grossly terrible and then the late 80 team that had Rick Mahorn, Mike Gminski, Ron Anderson and Hersey Hawkins! That latter team is the team that made the NBA adopt the flagrant foul! LOL

@@MrMixItup Thank you for recognizing my service,it's appreciated.The team that had Barkley,Giminski,Hawkins,Gilliam and the others you mentioned.

Man I remember him in 90's, definitely a very good player on the court that doesn't get the praise due to him. Thank you for the trip back down memory lane!
@kerry-j4m6 ай бұрын
I remember him also,but,when he was a 76er,I was living in Philly during the 90s.I also remember Barkley critising Gilliam and Hershey Hawkins in the newspaper and radio interviews in Philly.Barkley also said crazy,outrageous things in the press and on the radio to get the 76ers owner ( Harold Katz ) to trade him,which he finally did,to Phoenix.

I forgot this man Gilliam was putting up 15-18 points and 7-9 boards every year. He had to play with Barkley, Chambers, Coleman and Baker all at the same Power Forward position.

0:25 Whoa!! Derrick Coleman PUNCHED at Armen Gilliam's HEAD! Yet, they became TEAMMATES in 1993-94! It's one thing to push and shove, or even punch in the STOMACH! But, when one person punches at another person's HEAD, that's it: Their relationship is irreparable for life. That's why I can't understand how Brad Daugherty could be All-Star teammates with Bill Laimbeer, because Laimbeer punches Daugherty in the HEAD. Punching another person in the HEAD, crosses a line.

As you all know, I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. This all shows you where, when, and HOW I grew up. In 2000, when he was with the Utah Jazz, I would practice Armen Gilliam 17-Footers, from the straight left side of the basket!

@JosephMiller-gh6mv20 күн бұрын
If you have a bad attitude it will affect the team and how you play , how much you score doesn't show how you play with your team mates do they want to play with you , and do you make them better and do you make the better & win , or are you getting yours and if you are you to will have a video talking about why your not remember , then a guy off the bench with half the talent is remembered by team mates & fans and loved .
