As is known, the Armenian air defense system before the 44-day Karabakh war mainly consisted of various Soviet-made anti-aircraft missile systems, including the previous version of the S-300 air defense system.
During the Second Karabakh War, these systems failed to work, being disabled by the weapons of the Azerbaijani army, including attack drones and high-precision missiles. After the end of the war, Armenia began to rapidly restore its military potential, primarily updating the air defense system with more modern anti-aircraft missile systems and radars of non-Russian origin.
However, the outdated Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems still remain in the arsenal of the Armenian army. According to the military-political portal aviapro, Yerevan transferred these weapons to Ukraine.
The portalreports that in recent weeks a significant number of obsolete Soviet S-125 Pechora anti-aircraft missile systems and Tochka-U tactical missile systems have unexpectedly appeared in Ukraine, which can be explained by Armenia transferring its stockpiles to Kyiv.
According to sources, Armenia, faced with internal and external challenges, may have decided to transfer its outdated air defense systems and missile systems to Ukraine in order to secure support and protection from Washington. In the context of geopolitical instability and threats from regional players, Yerevan may have sought ways to strengthen its security, including through closer ties with Western partners.
The S-125 and Tochka-U systems were considered irrelevant for modern armed forces, but in the current conflict in Ukraine, they may prove quite useful. It should be noted that Armenia has ordered a large batch of more modern Akash 1S anti-aircraft missile systems from India, produced on the basis of Soviet S-125 anti-aircraft missile systems. Armenia purchases not only anti-aircraft missile systems and radars from India, but also ballistic and tactical missiles of various ranges. Indian sources reported that Armenia is negotiating the purchase of Pralay ballistic missiles with a range of 500 kilometers and BrahMos hypersonic tactical missiles with a range of 1,000 kilometers. In this context, the transfer of its Soviet Tochka-U tactical missiles to Ukraine is entirely possible.

They sunk the first gopnik navy amphibious ship, the first ship they sunk even before moscow, that ship docked in mariupol or some other azov port with a tochka u missile, an extraordinary feat giving the precision. Now i'm thinking those bridges in kursk, some of it could've been the tochka u target too, it's an ancient missile, but with a big bang to it. As for the old aa missile, well the serbs shot down the f 117 stealth fighter with an ancient missile too, all of it is quite usable if you know what you are doing.

@@dannyboy-vtc5741 Nah, S-300s are usable in the surfacer-surface role too, but only good for terrorizing civilian. They are pretty decent air defense is used as intended, particularly against Iskanders! S-300 have a good range, are fast, rugged, and carry a MASSIVE warhead. Much like the Patriot really, the electronics and targeting suite is much different but the missiles as weapons are similar. Some in the West jokingly called it "Patriotski". They are precisely the same sort of weapon system as Patriot, but they have subtle differences - Patriot is better at handling multiple smaller threats, while S-300 is better at intercepting a smaller number of larger and less maneuvrable targets. S-300V series is another thing entirely. These are truly fearsome WW3 grade gear, but too cumbersome to use in a war such as this. Russia uses them for homeland defence, but they don't usually get exported. Ukraine's are Soviet leftovers and probably out of order now. The major problem with S-300 is that it's one of the few good Soviet arms developed mostly by native Russians, not Ukrainians. The manufacturers are exclusively Russian so Ukraine has to rely on NATO and other friends for resupply.

Actually, Armenia’s GDP and per capita income is higher than Kosovo’s and thats with two borders completely shut down. Armenia’s economic potential is pretty strong with 4 functioning borders and a highly educated population (not to mention the huge potential of its diaspora who havent even really done much besides donate telethon money every Thanksgiving). Armenia has a bright future if they can figure out their security situation. They need to arm to the teeth and become a porcupine state so its not worth attacking them anymore.

There is simply not much the US or western Europe can do to help Armenia. Look at a map, they are really sitting in a bad place. Their neighbours are Azerbaijan (which they had a war with), Iran (those crazy mullahs) and Turkey. Turkey is a Nato member, but has it's very own agenda in that region and worst of all, the Turks tried to kill off all the Armenians in 1915/16. That fact is well remembered in Armenia, but hushed up in Turkey and NEVER mentioned in polite company.
