Armenian folk music are wonderful , they take you to another space where you would fly like a free butterfly. Amazing collection , excellent combination.

theres the stringed Qanun, the whistle you hear is called the shvi and theres a drum called dhol

It is not similar at all I have heared kurdish music its no near armenian folk. Just enjoy without comparing, its two different nations with complete different cultures! Never heard such "kurdish music" This is pure noble armenian art!

I was thinking the same though a lot of times. The upper melodies often have some similar vibes, before it becomes more middle eastern. Very interesting!

Armenia is East of Europe and West of Asia. The trade routes of Marco Polo from the Orient went through Armenia, allowing for various cultural influences to permiate the region. You'll hear a blend of East/West in older Armenian music.

Armenians made up a majority of the most Eastern part of the Ottoman empire before 1915 so you'll still hear a lot of Armenian influence in older folk songs from that region. Armenia is the crossroads between Arabic, Persian, Greek and East Asian cultures of antiquity until the Turkish migration. The Oud is a great example of that blend as each culture from that region has their own version that's slightly tweaked.

No sir. The New Turks in WW1 actually tried pretty hard to eliminate our wonderful culture. However, the past is the past and I’ve never met an Armenian who wanted revenge or carried hate toward the Turkish people. We are simply sad for our past and wish to build a peaceful future with our neighbors on all borders, while maintaining our cultural freedom and our Christianity. One love ❤️🇦🇲
