Armenian FOOD & WINE at an Armenian Wine Yard + Making Vodka | Ashtarak, Armenia

As the ninth day of my Armenia trip continued, I had the amazing opportunity to visit an Armenian wine yard! Come along with me I visit the wine yard and get to enjoy some incredible Armenian food and wine and learned how to make vodka in Ashtarak, Armenia!

We had come full-circle on this amazing trip. Ashtarak is just about 30 minutes north of Yerevan, the capital city where my trip began. We’d actually stay overnight at Yeganyans Bed & Breakfast. They make homemade wine and even have a wine garden and a wine room with amazing food! I couldn’t wait to try it all!
We drove five minutes in an old Soviet car along a super rocky road to the winery. You can eat in the garden, which smells like wine and oak! It was so beautiful and peaceful.
After a tour of the bed & breakfast, we headed down to a master class to learn how to distill vodka! Meanwhile, I tried mixing the fermenting grapes. It’s intense manual labor, so traditionally only men did this!
Then, I headed to the wine room, which smelled like wine. There are cognac barrels and wine barrels inside, tables, and wines on the walls. They also sold jams and honey!
Because it was so nice out and so beautiful, we would be eating in the wine garden. I started with some dried fruit to start. The dehydrated peaches, apricots, and plums were amazing.
While we waited for the vodka pot to fill up, we dug into our massive feast! We had beef kufta, vegetables, cheese, lamb, potatoes, green beans with egg, tomato salad, pomegranante salad, lavash, red wine, white wine, and more!
We tried a red wine called Areni Victory and then dove into the beef. It’s called kufta and is made of mincemeat, egg, cognac, and spices. I ate a piece without the butter first. It was spongy, soft, and tasty. Then I tried it with the butter. It was like the beef absorbed it!
The Areni Victory was a strong-bodied wine and had a beautiful color. Then, we went with the green beans with eggs, which I tried by itself and later inside some lavash. It’s something I would love to eat for breakfast!
I was loving the flavors of the food, the ambiance, and the whole mood and vibe of this place. It was unparalleled. Then, I went with some really fatty beef, beet salad with pomegranate seeds, and greens with onion and pomegranate seeds. The greens also contained walnuts and tasted like kale, but greener. The beets were also delicious. The flavors are so rare because they use less spices and everything is so fresh.
Then, I went with the beef, which was so tender because it cooked for four hours. The fat added an incredible flavor. It was so incredible and paired extremely well with the wine. Then, we toasted with some stronger white wine.
Next, it was time for the vodka, which is 60%. It was super tasty and was like a cross between vodka and grappa. Then, we went for some sun-dried plums and I watched Lusine play a traditional Armenian game with apricot seeds. Then, they played another game with a spinning top, and we finished up with some more wine.
What a beautiful night and experience! As I was nearing the end of my time in Armenia, I have to say it’s one of my favorites I’ve ever visited, along with India, Spain, Italy, and Greece.

Yes or no.Grappa if residual sugars kept high thus making the alcohol level high like in Grappa and vodka if sugars are distilled almost totally therefore kept only the alcohol minus the sugars .Vodka can be made any organic fruit grain as long as it has sugars to convert.Main difference how much sugars are left in the end.
