I love Chiptune as much as the next nostalgia-ridden nerd, but I'd chalk the amount of it this soundtrack uses up to abuse. These tracks would feel much more at home in a mobile game meant to mirror the original 2002 Shantae. Listen to this OST and compare it to how full, vibrant, and present the Half-Genie Hero and Pirate's Curse. It doesn't line up with the vibrance of the modern iterations of the game, and it's just not really there for me. But honestly, it's a great effort. I'll just always believe Half-Genie Hero has the best Shantae soundtrack

I too feel this whole soundtrack leans a bit tooo much on chiptune-like sound. It was a bit jarring the first few times, but now that I've replayed it a thousand times I just got used to the new sound too and it feels pretty great.
