Armored Core 6 (VI) - Balteus Boss Fight (Chapter 1 - Mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint) - EASY BRUTE FORCE STRATEGY
With this build you can simply overpower the boss. You have a lot of health from using the parts with the highest available AP (Health) and Defense Stats, and having insane damage output from the two machine guns and laser guns on the back.
It's simple:
- Lock onto the boss immediately when fight starts (R3 / Right Stick). This makes it much easier to hit him.
- Always stay close to the boss by flying towards him with X/A. The tank build is hard to drive on the ground, and while evading with SQUARE/X you can't shoot weapons. Flying has easier maneuverability and you can keep shooting.
- Fire all 4 guns continuously at all times. Hold L2+R2 / LT+RT to fire the main guns & constantly tap L1+R1 / LB+RB to fire both shoulder weapons. Make sure you stay as close to the boss as possible for more damage output and to break his shields faster.
The shoulder weapons deal a lot of Impact Damage to break his shields and stagger him, and the Hand Weapons also deal good damage at close range. Once the enemy is staggered, unload everything on him for fast damage. He takes significantly more damage while staggered. His shields will be down for a while, stay close and keep dealing damage. You don't need to worry too much about evading, just stay close and deal damage. With this build you have enough health to withstand the damage and can win by sheer brute force without any skill.
Staying at close range is the key here. At long range his shields will deflect the Machine Gun bullets. At close range they won't deflect and the shields break quicker

I mean you're not really supposed to drain the shields with the ludlows, they're meant for the stagger after the shield breaks and DPS in break phases. But if it works, it works.

I can always make it to the 2nd phase with a lightweight build before I die, but with this build I killed it on the second try easily. I think what makes killing this so hard is that it has shields and they fully regenerate.

The shield itself isnt the issue. Its the fact that barely any weapon in the entire game makes any damage to it, forcing you to play some of the worst weapons just to take it down, to then proceed to take 5% of his health..

@@R0ndras Use the plasma emitters mentions in the descriptions its supposed to be used against shields. Dual wield melts the shield in 2 sec. Then hit it with whatever does good damage (double shoulder laser rifle as in the video is good at that stage)

@@chidori0117 dont you have to get close for that? every time you get close it will hit you with the explosive shell and the shotgun which are pretty much unavoidable at that range.

Use the plasma sword and you can wreck the shield. Then when his shields are down plasma sword his jet back specifically and you will do mega damage. If you hit him enough with the sword then you can get him to his second phase very quickly with only having to drop his shield's once. Repeat this process two to three more times second phase and you'll end him.

I got through with super lightweight AC, dual wielding the shield breaker gun, backpack has a melee weapon and a railgun. charge the railgun then break the shield, fire the rail gun then switch to weapon and do a melee combo

Just beat it after ~45 minutes with 2 Linear Rifles, 2 8-Cell Missile Pods, and Melander (medium weight). Don't even bother. Don't think about it and just do this recommended heavy build to just get it over with. Have to say, this is probably one of the WORST boss fights of FromSoft HISTORY. And this is coming from a diehard FromSoft fan that's beaten Sekiro with no charm + demon bell. One key thing that makes this fight total BS is the aimbot shotgun that comes from nowhere at phase 2. No telegraph. No warning. No visible gun aiming at you. Just thousands of AP lost in a second (it also sets you up to get hit by the giant BS sword, so another thousands of AP). He also has a BS bazooka which is BARELY telegraphed. There is a warning beep, but you can't hear it over voiceover, music, and endless gunfire. Heavy attacks should have a red flash like in Neir Automata and Sekiro. Hopefully this is the only BS boss in this game. It's still an awesome game all in all.

I have to agree, unfortunately. I don't want to keep aborting a mission during boss fights, go to the shop, buy the parts that fit this boss and replay the whole stage. Just because it's 20x easier with certain builds than others. I know it's not dark souls, but god damn...

Yeah.@@TheAbysswalker. The FromSoft design we're used to - build what you like and beat the boss with it through skill- is drastically reduced in this game. Certain builds simply work much, MUCH better than others. Feels a little bad.

Pyro in DS1, rapier/twinblade in DS2, twinblades in DS3, etc. I've yet to feel any need to change what I'm using for any mission and I'm almost done with the game, so you can absolutely "build what you like and beat the boss with it through skill."

@@amathy9690 the difference in performance is completely insane, theres "some builds are better than others" in other Fromsoft games, then theres "some builds are so astronomically better its pointless to handicap yourself with x build when y build completely trivializes the entire fight" in AC6. these big spongey bosses feel like a bleed in from elden ring/sekiro and they dont fit at all

Thanks, got him after two tries with this build. Appreciate that you stuck with gear that is attainable up to that point. The biggest challenge for me was adjusting to the flamethrower attacks in phase 2. The diagonal flame slash combo will wreck your health bar, and you don't have many opportunities to adjust before getting deleted.

Great guide, it worked for me. Died on my first try but got him in the second. Only differences to this build are to use dual pulse guns instead of ludlows and spent OST chips on Pulse Armor, ACS - Dynamic Deflection Control Tuning.

Two things, 1 Thank you so much for this build. I was struggling with high speed dual plasmas and dual homing missiles. 2, I still used dual plasmas in place of machine guns with the shoulder lasers. It wrecked him, maybe faster? First try eitherway. Anyway thanks again.

Worked like a charm! You don’t need to have the head part or anything that was a preorder bonus (you get it later anyway apparently) but if you get the closest to the parts in the video that you can it works. Just be aggressive as hell, don’t heal until it’s really needed and stay on the thing like white on rice.

OH MY GOD YOU HIS WORKS SO GOOD!! After about 50 tries I didn’t want to restart the mission to totally rebuild my mech but damn this made it so much easier. I beat it first try and still had a heal left. The AC you fight before this boss was the hardest part!!! The entire fight only took 60 seconds. I never would have tried this if not for this video!!

The large bosses feel like they were made for almost a completely different game and they're easily the lowest point for me. Basic missions are almost chill and a blast to just get around in, and AC duels are the perfect level of tense that it keeps you on your toes but you can still run and gun your way through just fine. But you face a large boss and they're a gimmicky HP sponge that forces certain builds or playstyles if you don't want to spend all day bashing your face against the wall.

And these boss fights are wildly out of form for an AC game This is not a Souls game, and shouldn't play like one. @@Daps741 Even with a medium size build some of his attacks can feel random to avoid. But you can also use strong missiles and heavy artillery to defeat him, regardless of weight.

I highly recommend everyone to try this build if you're having trouble. You might need to restart the mission to buy some things that you're missing but it's totally worth it. I was really struggling with a light melee focused build, but this allowed me to beat the boss on the first try.

Honestly, the build is less efficient but it makes you better. Post Balteus I became a much better AC player. If you go tank build you don't improve much as a player

To anyone reading this. I 100% Recommend this build. After 10 tries of failing with my normal build. This build help me manage to defeat Balteus in just 1 try. In fact, this build is so built for this type of encounter that I managed to reduce Balteus health at 20% through sheer fire power alone before he entered his phase 2 which he normally does at 60% health. Tried that 15 times, all heals spent before the explosion, dead when flame melee attacks start. Can't say I do something different than in the video. Then took pulse cannons instead of these tommy guns and got it second try. Did not fire shoulders while boss is shielded, only cannons, then went ham on staggered boss, then while boss had no shield only did shoulders and often got a second stagger before next shield. When next shield appears I usually became happy because guaranteed stagger.

I managed to pull it off with a reverse legs double plasma missile and pulse gun with an energy blade build. Mouthful I know but god dam was it satisfying to beat it after a dozen tries. Those flamethrower slashes are no joke.
